the timing is just absolutely outlandish. All the news shows will be leading with the timing I assure you.

Now the big question is does Kerry even touch this tonight?

2. Jane Arraf, CNN bureua chief, just had a rocket
go over her head while she was reporting to Leslie Blitzen.

Her report was, ah, cut short (so she could change her underpants).

7. If things are getting better...
...why is a major offensive necessary?

And if a major offensive isn't necessary, who's wagging the dog now?

8. More strategy in service of politics
Nothing new here at all.

Although, isn't it curious that the U.S. is working a major offensive on the 17 month anniversary of "Mission Accomplished"?

14. Isn't it after midnight now in Iraq?
So, technically speaking, it IS October where the battle is happening.

15. It's interesting because reports have indicated November-December
before a major offensive, but this is the power of the executive office, to change the situation on the ground for political reasons. This might be too early though, too much blood before Nov. 2. Americans might not be able to stomache it.

Immodest of me to point it out, but there it is: Strategy in service to politics. Hope the people that die in the coming days don't mind being used as campaign election props.

11. Well, my god, I've been waiting for this all day--what took them so long??
I was almost losing faith in them. I've seen this shit so much--how can people buy into it. More importantly, why can't they figure out that their soldiers' lives are just a goddamn game to these people and here's the proof. May you rot in hell Bush.

12. What I'd like to see.
I'd like to see Bush dropped out of a C-130 right in the middle of Sadyr City so he can get a closeup and personal look at his work.

17. How long is it now going to take the talking heads to say
"this is bad news of Kerry"...."if Kerry attacks Bush about anything in Iraq tonight, the people will turn against him"....."anything Kerry says tonight about Bush's Iraq policy will destroy him", blah, blah. Then they will say after that "Kerry seemed shocked and out of step", blah, blah. Wag the Dog talk should start immediately and never let up....make this into a backlash of look how far this animal will go to promote himself!!!--when you do shit like this, you are not leading and making good decisions. In fact, how many guys died while you were waiting around to make sure the launch was tonight. THIS CAN BE USED AGAINST HIM AND THE DEMS NEED TO START IT RIGHT NOW!!!

22. Take a look at this
Duberstein smoothly kicked into a higher gear in response. The worse things get in Iraq, he said, the better it is for Bush, because it means that his "strong" leadership is all that much more important in a crisis — which Iraq certainly is. Now that's a super surrogate.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6143026

From an article by Howard Fineman, Duberstein is a highly regarde spin doctor who will be in the spin room for Bush Cheney tonight.

So I'd say your political instincts are right on target.

19. The Innoculation Is On The Post-Debate Spin
See, this way if Dear Leader has a bad night, it may get bumped on all the cable shows in favor of this 'offensive.'

OTOH, if this defensive gets bogged down -- and God forbid that should happen (DID YOU READ THAT, FREEPERS??) -- it could boomerang on Bush as yet another example of ineptness.

(Seriously, though, this just shows that the military guys actually won an argument. They've been saying we can't wait until November to make some moves.)

23. A bonus for the Media.
Death and distruction are good for the news.

The Neo Fascists have decided to scrap the "Winning hearts and minds" approach. The new plan is "Bomb the terrorists into submission." This is designed to kill non-combatents in order to move the population to condemn the Insurgency and support the US Puppet Govt.
