WTF?? FOX News will be manning the only pool camera at debate?
URGENT - FROM THE MODERATE INDEPENDENT

'The images broadcast during a debate are arguably more important than what is said. And by being by chosen to man the pool camera for the first debate, FOX News will have entire control over what America sees and how they see it.

And, as if there were any question, FOX News is making clear they will take every opportunity to catch Kerry sweating or with a weird face when he isn't talking or anything unflattering anytime - even against the negotiated rules agreed to by the candidates.

As CNN reports: "Because of journalistic standards, we're not going to follow outside restrictions," said Paul Schur, a spokesman for Fox News, which is manning the pool camera for the first debate Thursday in Miami, Florida."

If FOX mans the cameras, as is planned, whenever Kerry is making a good point, they will cut away to a distracting shot so the point gets lost, and if Bush is sounding bad, they will cut to an unflattering shot of John or something to distract in the audience. And then they will give Bush nice, tight, undistracted focus when they want to make him seem strong.

Hear this now: contact anyone and everyone you can and make it clear that is this is not thwarted in the next day, if FOX News, a known, undeniable member of the Bush campaign, is allowed to control the pool camera - the camera the rest of the media will have to feed from - Kerry will lose the election. It is the equivalent of letting Karl Rove or Dick Cheney control the camera coverage for the debate.

We do not know yet how this was arranged - it is possible the Kerry campaign is not aware of this yet - but it must be changed.'

5. I don't buy it
I read yesterday that part of Bush's agreement, was that the camera will be fixed on the person answering the question.

9. You believe that
Edited on Wed Sep-29-04 12:00 PM by Frenchie4Clark
the Bush Campaign aka Faux News will do what it says it will do???? You believe that they will honor an agreement? Wow, if that was the case, it would be a news story all on its own!

The Bush campaign will do whatever is required to win, and then some.

Why do you think all of the pundits are saying that Kerry HAS GOT TO WIN this debate. That's part of the set-up.

Why, oh why, are we so slow in catching up to Karl Rove?

2. True or False: Fox is manning the cameras, but the networks choose shots?
I'm hearing that although the camera operators are from Fox, all of the networks will be receiving all of the feeds, so that each network can select which camera to take and when.

Yes? If so, I am slightly less worried...

...although, Fox could tweak the tint on Kerry's camera and make him look... well... orange. :eyes:

4. I can't imagine that the Kerry campaign
would have ever agreed to this. I hope they scream about it. FAUX NEWS??? They have to stop this. Damn...Kerry has already made enough concessions just to get the damn debates to move forward. He CANNOT let FAUX news man the cameras.

7. There is always "only one pool camera" The feed
Edited on Wed Sep-29-04 12:35 PM by saracat
is sent to the other outlets. This is not a major faux pas or a big developmwnt. I was with the journalists during some of the primary debates and most of the time press isn't ,other than moderators, allowed into the debate. We have our own press room where , computers at the ready, we type our reports. CNN is especially tight as a debate sponsor, but most of the broadcasters handle it the same way.
We may not like FOX but this is NOT story. And the Kerry Campaign is not in the dark as to FOX being the sponsor. And there is more than one camera!

10. I thought the pool feed receivers got to control the displayed feed.
I thought:
- There are going to be at least two cameras operated by Fox. (What, you expect to see the camera pan between them???)
- All those video feeds are going to be output to the pool.
- The pool recipients can independently decide which feed to show.

In other words, that ABC could show Bush on Fox's Camera 1, while CBS is simultaneously showing Kerry's reaction from Fox's Camera 2.

12. There is SOOOOO much faux could do to those cameras to support
Der Bunnypantz*.

And they will. Dear God in Heaven, they WILL.

How much you want to bet the Gore sighs in 2000 were a Bushevik "Ratfucking"?

(notice that was also the FIRST DEBATE)

What does Faux have in mind for this one?

The only sure guarantee is that they are INCAPABLE as Nazi "journalists" of playin it straight.

It will be something.

13. RELAX - they are running the POOL CAMERAS
All networks have access to what they're showing. One camera will be on Kerry, another on Shrub. Another on the moderator. Another roaming the audience, and they'll all be running simultaneously. It's up to the individual networks what to show.
