I have been bothered by the negativity here lately. Every bad poll, no matter how misleading, seems to send a segment of DU into a funk ...
The truth is this: Yes, Kerry could lose. Now, I don't think he will, but it could happen. The debates could go badly, we could have an October surprise, Bush's campaign of fear and smear could prevail, Bush/Rove could steal it again. But my answer to the doom and gloomers is this, "What are you going to do about it? Quit?".
Whether Kerry prevails on Nov 2nd or not, it doesn't change the fight. My beloved country is in trouble. It is being badly abused by a far right element of the Republican party. A combination of bad ideology and manipulation of the national press has led us to this. So, inspired by many others on this board, I choose to fight. Bush is my generation's Nixon. And I will not sit idly by while he and his ilk abuse my country.
Whether Kerry loses or wins on Nov 2nd - on Nov. 3rd I will be either writing scathing letters to the media demanding that Bush be held accountable or pleading that Kerry be given a chance to implement his policies. This is a long term problem. And in other words, "I am here, I love and respect queers, so get used to it."
The RW spent 30 years taking over the media. I will spend the next 30 years of mine fighting to get it back.
