"Two-faced" proves we can play that game...now GO DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO.
Edited on Sat Sep-25-04 12:07 AM by LoZoccolo
Alright, we've been waiting for a year and a half to be in this six weeks or so that we're in now. Now we know that many of us have secretly wished we had our own FReeperish mechanism to get all our legions all at once saying the same thing so it sticks. A history of the past four years, given in echo-chamber annoyances:

They counted the ballots twice already!

Economies are cyclical!

We gave him twelve years to disarm!

Support our troops!

It wasn't about WMDs, it's about taking down a dictator and spreading democracy!

Hey, I got a check for $800 in my mailbox!

The Democrats have nothing to run on but hate speech!

Kerry's a flip-flopper!

The terrorists want Kerry to win!

Now see it's great we're all participating in democracy and there are a thousand different lefty websites occasionally updated once a month or whatever...but you've gotta admit, it's so scattered it doesn't stick.

Now this two-faced thing may have been introduced all interruptively and got us all disturbed wondering what was going on and was it a hacker or a bug in the software and is this the best that the DNC can do but you know what, it got a lot of our attention at once and that's what our party needs right now, for us all to fall in line behind a consistent message...remember last year when Clinton said that Democrats fall in love, and Republicans fall in line, and we need to do both...now go do what the Big Dog says and do what you have to to let everyone know...

1. Maybe we can pay more attention to our DNC emails
and run our talking points on their subject for the day. I've been sending emails to all my anti-Kerry/undecideds/no-voters everyday on a subject the media is focusing on to counterattack what they're saying or to reinforce what Kerry has said for the day. Hope it works!

3. Yeah totally get an email list going.
I started doing this after the war after realizing there was all this stuff not being covered or being regarded very little by the media, but would show up on say, the BBC site or whatever. So I started sending a collection of links to a few people I know to "refocus" the media for those few people. We can try to change the institutions, but after a little while, we've gotta do what we can to form our own little institutions a few people at a time all over the place if we have to.

5. I think it's bloody brilliant
it's short, it's to the point, anyone can "get" that and it gets the message across.

Too short of a message to tune it out. Too little explanation so you scratch your head at the mystery of it. Everything nowdays is overanalyzed, overexplained to death.

But this?

Two-faced bush. Simple. I've already started spreading it to other websites I frequent with heavy traffic.

Do it.

Fall in love and fall in line.

10. It wouldn't have mattered
we'd have used it too soon and it would have been forgotten by now.

Now is perfect.

Whoever came up with this has a master's degree in Marketing.

11. Who ever is the brainchild of the two-faced pic should
post that pic on billboards across then nation. With the words Two-Faced underneath. That's it. It will get people to talking. That is a good way to spread the word.

Can someone call Sorros on this?:-)

12. I agree - serendipity - the answer may've fallen into our laps
I think what you're getting at is the fact that every successful campaign has a strong attack THEME and to this point, we haven't developed anything on Bush that has stuck beyond 'Bush is bad'. Our charges against Bush -- while true and relevant -- are scattered. The way to truly take this guy down is to provide a framework through which all other charges can be viewed by the public, so each charge BUILDS on the other, strengthening our attack theme.

'Two-faced' just may work because the media keeps saying how folksy he is, yet there are moments when the real Bush is revealed..moments we can kindly point out. If the theme takes hold, Bush's media aided personality works against him because now people start to think 'Look at this guy trying to bullshit us when people are dying in Iraq. Look at this guy lying to us just like he did about the WMD.' And so on.

It works because it is true, the evidence is there -- all that needs to be done is have it articulated, expanded upon and framed.

Poppy was 'out of touch' because Clinton's people built a theme and the media ran with it, and then interpreted everything Poppy did through that lens. The media focused on when he was surprised at the supermarket scanner and when he looked at his watch all because of that theme.

Themes are essential to winning, especially when dealing with a national campaign where many voters are not that informed on issues. A candidate's positions and attacks can then make sense because they become part of a framework.

26. I've now got PDFs for printing business cards!
Would you want to put these up too? They print on these Avery business cards - I'm using 8871's, but they'll print on 5371's and 8371's and other 8371-compatible ones as well!

I've got one with just the picture, and others with just the picture and the URL. It's kind-of the same concept with making it a mystery like it was here - some people just get a picture, and find out from other people that know the URL, and gets talked about.
