Debate strategy
Should Kerry go after Bush, try to "push his buttons" and elicit an embarrassing tirade from Bush?

Or should he try to appear more professional?

My worry is that, if an attempt to rattle Bush doesn't succeed, it will be spun as Kerry trying to be nasty.

What do you think?

1. He should cry for his momma.
Bush is just too good to debate against. Kerry can't hope to beat a guy that's never lost a debate.

2. Exactly, sirjwtheblack
That's just what I was going to post. I've emailed the Kerry campaign, begging them not to let poor Mr. Kerry attempt such a thing. It's just suicide.

3. Definitely not early on
He shouldn't start out sarcastic or hostile, I don't think. But if Chimp keeps a theme going, after a few rebuttals Kerry could definitely hit back hard at the pattern, I think.

For example, repeated charges of "flip-flopping:" "That's the third time you've pretended not to understand how Congress votes. If you really don't understand it, we've got bigger problems in this country than I realized."

Or repeated charges of "mixed-messages to the enemy:" "Is there a comprehension problem here? What part of 'plan for success' do you find confusing?"

But I think it should be only after Chimp accumulates some stupid, slogan-heavy statements, not right out of the gate.

4. Agreed. Kerry can attack, be in Junior's face, without being "nasty."
It's exactly what he needs to do.
