Kerry sign....Stolen!
Taken...snatched...pilferred!

Yes, it has happened. The Neanderthal GOPers in my neighborhood couldn't stand that my neighbor and I had beautiful matching Kerry signs. So, like the thieves that they are, they stole them in the middle of the night leaving only the wire frames.

As I was pulling away from the house taking my daughters to school, I did my best to suppress my rage. I decided to use this episode as a teachable moment.

I asked my daughters if they felt it was wrong to take a sign from someone's yard (Yes, daddy). Then I asked them if they knew why the people had taken the sign. (No, daddy). I told them:

"There are some people who simply can not stand to have someone say something that they disagree with. They hate it so much that they will do what they can to silence the things they disagree with. In America, one of our most important principles is freedom of speech. When someone tries to silence another person by telling them to shut up or taking down a sign they disagree with, then it goes against everything we believe in. Democrats would never take down a Bush sign from someone's yard because we understand this principle of free speech. We may not like Bush or what he has done to this country and the world, but we understand that other people have the right to agree with him. I want you to know that it is not right to take signs down or tell people to be quiet because you disagree with them. It is wrong."

My oldest daughter said, "We're Democrats, right." I said, "I am, you can decide down the line if you want to be one too."

She said, "I'm a Democrat".

Just making lemonade folks! I'll go get some more signs today with the knowledge that this little incident helped me teach my daughters a valuable lesson. Thanks to the small minded person who took my sign!

2. It's always good to have extras. We all know how repukes are.
And good for you telling your kids they can decide when they're older what party they choose to support. You know repiglicans brainwash their kids to stay republican.

Those youngsters are gonna be some awesome Democrats when they grow up.

Sorry about the sign. Make another visit to your local Dem HQ and pick up a handful to keep for replacement purposes.

:-)

5. Here is our plan
If they take one we put up two, if they take two we put up three. If more than three vanish we put up a huge wooden Kerry sign pounded into the ground with a sledge hammer and secured with heavy gage wire. I would like to know if you steal a sign is it like tampering with the mail? You can get in a lot of trouble doing that.

7. There should be signs we could put up
Something like "A person who hates free speech stole my John Kerry sign". Or "Bush supporters stole my John Kerry sign, don't let them steal another election too".

8. I've lost two so far......
In a very liberal area.

I have my new Veterans for Kerry sign, but its not up yet as I'm gathering the hardware for a very secure installation, including thick plexiglass with a metal frame, and tamper proof hardware. I have also purchased a video surveillance camera with motion detector and recording capability. Hope to get it all together in the next week.

My October surprise for the brownshirts.
