I'd be interested in how many Americans believe we went to war
in Iraq because "they attacked us" (9/11).
Incredibly, it's likely that a significant number still think this. 30%?
More? Worth another poll some time.

1. That is what kills me
I never believed there was a connection. I think the number of morans was 70% at one time.

2. But the poll won't be accurate here...
I'm new to this site, but was very concerned when reading the rules. It's almost like something that should be sent to 'Leno' for a late-night gag...we state that only like-minded people can post to our site, and the next paragraph warn against bigots...

Your poll idea is great, but we won't get an accurate read if we are the only ones voting. Without open dialog, just open hostility, two things are going to happen:
1) No one will come to our party (cry and you cry alone)
2) We won't win any converts if we aren't engaging them. And for those of us who believe man can change, we should make the attempt.

My first presedential vote was for Dukakis, and back then I believed in the idealism of my party. I am hopeful that HOPE will be our message, not ANGER. Because no matter how righteous it may be, our anger will wither us, and we are allowing THEM to control US.

4. I didn't ask how many DUers believe something.
You seem to have misunderstood. What would be the point of that? Please read my post again.
My question was how many Americans still believe that Iraq was involved in the 9/11 attacks? I believe it would make an interesting national poll question these days.

5. I agree the Freepers should have a place on DU
Kind of a rogues' gallery where their posts could be sent for public amusement.

I'd discuss it more if I didn't suspect you of being them.

But that's what can happen when you allow bigotry to rear it's ugly head.

6. Answering my own question by googling
From an article about a Newsweek poll from early September 2004

"Yet, hard though it is to believe, a Newsweek poll last week found that 42 percent of Americans still think Saddam was “directly involved in planning, financing or carrying out the terrorist attacks.”

I cannot think more definitive evidence about the sheer incompetence and corruption of American media and the deceptive agenda of the Bush administration. This is propoganda worthy of Stalin.
