White House Insists Gibbs Didn't Apologize To Fox
I'm sorry if this has already been posted, but I am all over this like white on rice.

http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/10/white-house-insists-gibbs-didnt-apologize-to-fox.php

After TPMDC posted Friday about the latest in the Fox News v. White House saga related to an interview with Ken Feinberg, a Fox executive stood firm to say the White House had excluded the network.

Several readers brought a Huffington Post story to our attention this weekend. They have an interview with Fox VP Michael Clemente where he claims White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs apologized for the situation.

15. Look who's talking..the White House can handle
more than one thing at once, fyi.

If we had a free press there would have been no bush or War On Iraq..and bush-cheney caused these problems so we're fortunate that President Obama and his Team are in there getting it sraightened out.

2. This illustrates why many continue saying the WH shouldnt play nice with Republicans
They just take any attempts at conciliation as a weakness to be exploited.

They're like the Nazi's, and our party is Poland.

3. I'm not an instinctive politician...

but if I were Robert Gibbs, I'd make damn sure that the press briefing tomorrow has a firm discussion of this as an example of Fox's pernicious grandstanding. I'm sorry, but the assumption by the press that the WH "can't win this fight" is so far off. There is too much empirical evidence demonstrating Fox's journalistic malfeasance, regardless of what inside-the-beltway reporters contend.

8. To be honest, I don't think this has gone beyond rhetoric.
The West Wing is a large bureaucracy, and I seriously doubt that anything more than the WH communications staff is devoting much time to this issue.

11. and the credibility of Clemente is ... what?
I mean, Faux has the court order telling them that they have the legal right to lie ...

So, they would lie and claim that Gibbs apologized ...

Frank Scaeffer thinks he should go after faux even more..

<snip>

"President Obama is getting criticism for going after Fox News. I fault the White House too: for not going far enough. The real issue is not Fox's right wing "bias." The real issue is that FOX News seems to be trawling for assassins. Here's the letter White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs should write. Or maybe it should come from the head of United States Secret Service.

Dear Rupert Murdoch, since you are responsible for what is on Fox News I have a question for you: Do you ever wonder how you'll be remembered by Americans and the world (not to mention your children) if someone takes a shot at President Obama, and when asked why they did it, quotes the misinformation spouted by Fox News as their "reason"?

You have dozens of far right and dangerous and/or crazy seeming commentators working for you but lets just talk about one as an example of the rest. What of Glenn Beck?"

20. *sigh*
Do not waste your time explaining to people why it is important that fox be put in their place. There is at least one bitter ender in here complaining. This is just something else for them to bitch about.

22. It's not really for the bitterenders..
it's for those who know the reality of what faux has done to America.

I don't expect to change any minds ..only to reinforce what some of us already know to be true.

21. Thanks writer
Fox has been known as legitimate news for way too long. Some of the damage they have done to this country is irreversible. It is time they get called out on their madness. At the very least put out the meme that they are an echo chamber for the Republican party. You would be shocked to know how many people consider Fox unbiased. Some people just do not have the time to pay attention. I think the white house is more than capable of doing one thing at a time. I think this is a excellent strategic move on the part of the White House.
