Freudenthal Remains Noncommittal About Third Term
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) ― Gov. Dave Freudenthal remains noncommittal about whether he will seek a third term in office, but said Wednesday he will announce a decision, at the latest, after the legislative session that concludes in March.

Freudenthal, approaching the last year of his second term, says he believes state political races in Wyoming shouldn't involve perpetual campaigning, as congressional races do.

"For years in this state, the proper decorum was that officeholders waited until after the legislative session to make an announcement," Freudenthal told reporters at his regularly scheduled press conference. "And I think the public likes it that way."

Freudenthal, a Democrat, won re-election in 2006 with 70 percent of the vote. While he casts a long shadow in Wyoming politics, he's also governing in a state where registered Republicans outnumber Democrats better than two-to-one.

Diana Vaughan, chairman of the Wyoming Republican Party, said Wednesday that her party isn't hanging on Freudenthal's decision.
