Hey, this ought to piss everybody off! Send THIS picture around.

The lady's SON IS DEAD because BUSH is a LIAR.

She's being hauled away because she had the temerity to say so ON THE OUTSIDE of the venue where Laura Bush was speaking!

Look at them haul her away! Look at the anguish on her face!

6. Losing a Son Versus Losing a Sign?
How can there be any comparison?

I wish there was something we could to help Sue Niederer, my heart aches for her and her loss.

9. I'm sure her heart is breaking--
her son is dead and her country has turned on her for speaking out.

This woman was on the OUTSIDE of a venue where Laura Bush was speaking.

She was threatening NO ONE.

This is horrible.

Those bastards are in a concerted disinfo attack against us at the moment. Was it a coincidence that an AP photographer was immediately at hand? That the photograph then went into wide distribution through the right-leaning Yahoo news aggregator? That multiple right wing sources, including Drudge and FR, picked up the photograph and are now forcing the mainstream media to acknowledge the incident?

How convenient it is that a union guy is clutching a shred of the Bush/Cheney sign. The union shirt sure gave the thugs on the other side a lot of mileage! How convenient that the republican fucker who set his daughter up this way kept on holding his position for the AP propaganda photographer even after the "brutal union attack" on his kid.

This is a clever disinfo operation. Republican leadership saw how effective the rightwing blog amplifier can be with the Guard memos and is now leveraging it to the hilt. Be aware; don't fall for the bullshit even if you read it here on DU!

14. Yep. He showed a long clip of the whole ordeal.
The lady was just talking with some press people and asking questions while on the OUTSIDE of the venue where Laura Bush was speaking.

Then the cops come up and start harassing her and say that they are going to arrest her, and she says incredulously "You going to ARREST me?" Then she says "Well, go ahead then--do it in front of everybody if you have to do it!"

30. Hmmm, the AP story has a different version of events
Strangely contradicting the pix, the AP story claims she was inside the rally at a firehouse:

Woman Disrupts Laura Bush Speech in N.J.

Thu Sep 16, 8:10 PM ET

By JOHN P. McALPIN, Associated Press Writer
HAMILTON, N.J. - A woman wearing a T-shirt with the words "President Bush You Killed My Son" and a picture of a soldier killed in Iraq was detained Thursday after she interrupted a campaign speech by first lady Laura Bush.

Police escorted Sue Niederer, of Hopewell, N.J., from a rally at a firehouse after she demanded to know why her son, Army 1st Lt. Seth Dvorin, 24, was killed in Iraq. Dvorin died in February while trying to disarm a bomb.

As shouts of "Four More Years" subsided, Niederer, standing in the middle of a crowd of some 700, continued to shout about the killing of her son. Local police escorted her from the event, handcuffed her and put her in the back of a police van.

Niederer was later charged with defiant trespass and released.

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040917/ap_on_el_pr/laura_bush_protester

So, even though her son died while heroically attempting to disarm a bomb, this Gold Star Mom was charged with the (new????) crime of “defiant trespass.”

16. Have you noticed that the story headlines about this...
like on yahoo, ap, only say, "Woman arrested for disrupting Laura Bush talk" or something like that?

They don't mention that her son was killed in Iraq. That's in the articles, but not the headlines.

I would have done the same damn thing. My youngest daughter served in Persian GulfI.. I was freaked out of my mind while she was gone. If something had happened to her, I would be just like that woman. NO QUESTION ABOUT IT.

BRAVO Madame!! Yes, it did get some media coverage. :bounce:

32. Her face is the reason we must avoid war.
It struck me over the last few days how heated the rhetoric is getting. I know it's possible to unintentionally write someting that sounds too direct or too much like a call to action.

The expression on the face of this mother, whose son died before she did, is the simple reason that we must avoid internal conflict at almost all cost.

I vote we talk each other down from divisive positions.

I thought your message made many good points, Lex. Among them, that the problem we are facing is a lack of truth.

Just heard the end of the week political commentary show on local public radio, discussing Laura Bush's visit to help "My B*tch Mitch"... could this have happened during her visit here?
