Today! A New Ad! And,John Edwards is in PA , Elizabeth is in IA
Here are a few items from US News Wire regarding what's happening in our campaign today:

:dem: John Edwards – Sunday, September 19th

http://releases.usnewswire.com/GetRelease.asp?id=36474

On Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004 Democratic nominee for vice president John Edwards will travel to Pennsylvania, making stops in Philadelphia, Phoenixville, and Johnston. After four years of wrong choices by the Bush administration, Edwards will discuss the Kerry-Edwards plan to take America in a new direction.

10:30 a.m. EDT: Edwards Addresses Bright Hope Baptist Church (Philadelphia)

12:30 p.m. EDT, Edwards Attends Block Party where he made the following statement (Phoenixville)

Statement by John Edwards on Republican Fear Mongering
PHOENIXVILLE, Pa., Sept. 19 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Vice Presidential candidate John Edwards today made the following statement in response to Dennis Hastert's comments last night that Al Qaeda wants John Kerry to be elected: "One clear sign of weakness and failed leadership is when a politician stoops to the politics of fear. In the last twenty- four hours Dennis Hastert, the Speaker of the House, has joined the fear mongering choir. Last night, he said something to the effect that Al Qaeda wants John Kerry to be President of the United States. Let me say this in the simplest possible terms: when John Kerry is President of the United States, we will find Al Qaeda where they are and crush them before they can do damage to the American people.

"Over and over, this president and his cronies have taken one of our nation's greatest tragedies and used it as part of a cheap political ploy. With their words, they seek to divide us and they dishonor the fallen. They want to scare the American people but they will pay a price in November.

"None of us should be surprised by this, because just two or three weeks ago we heard what Dick Cheney said about this. He said that if you don't vote for him and George Bush come November and there is another terrorist attack, then it's your fault.

"The truth is that this statement by Dick Cheney was not an accident. It was calculated and it was calculated to divide us on one of the most critical issues to our country, keeping the American people safe and secure. It was un-American. The President of the United States should say it was un-American." http://www.usnewswire.com/

Later in the day, Mrs. Edwards will speak at the annual Harkin Steak Fry in Indianola.

:dem: New Kerry Ad: The Next President Must Do Both -- Defend America and Fight for the Middle Class

WASHINGTON, Sept. 19 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Calling attention to how George W. Bush's wrong choices in Iraq have shortchanged priorities at home, the Kerry-Edwards campaign Sunday unveiled the new 30-second television ad "Defend America."

In the ad, John Kerry pledges to be a president who defends America and fights for the middle class, taking America in a new direction after George Bush's wrong choices in Iraq have cost us $200 billion and shortchanged America on everything from education to health care.
"George W. Bush's wrong choices have led America in the wrong direction in Iraq and left America without the resources we need here at home," said Kerry-Edwards campaign spokesperson Phil Singer. "John Kerry believes we can be strong in the world while we also make progress here at home. George W. Bush believes we have to choose one or the other. That's a false choice."

"Defend America" can be seen at http://www.johnkerry.com/video/091904_defend_america.html
It will air in battleground states across America starting Monday.

THE FACTS:
Title: "Defend America"
Type: 30 second TV
Date: 9/19/04
Paid for By: Kerry-Edwards 2004, Inc.

AD SCRIPT
JOHN KERRY: "200 billion dollars. That is what we are spending in Iraq because George Bush chose to go it alone. Now the president tells us we don't have the resources to take care of health care and education here at home. That's wrong. As president, I'll stop at nothing to get the terrorists before they get us. But I'll also fight to build a stronger middle class. That's the difference in this election. I believe the next president must do both -- defend America and fight for the middle class."

2. Thanks for this great news. I believe 99% of the people who go to
hear JRE OR EE will end up going to vote for Kerry-Edwards. John and Elizabeth are very compelling speakers and genuine people.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 18 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Senator John Edwards issued the following statement today based on reports that the Republican National Committee sent campaign mail into West Virginia claiming that the Bible will be banned if Democrats are elected in November:

Republicans always say they want to have a values debate but lying and spreading hate were not the values I learned growing up in a small town in North Carolina where the Bible was the most important book my home. George Bush and Dick Cheney should be appalled by these despicable mailings. They should condemn this practice immediately and tell everyone associated with their campaign to never use tactics like this again. The American people deserve better.
