Key Blue Dog: I Will Oppose Health Care Bill with Public Option
Brian Beutler | September 8, 2009, 9:56AM

Rep. Mike Ross (D-AR)--the leader of the Blue Dogs' Health Care Task Force--says he will vote against health care legislation if it includes a public option.

"I have been skeptical about the public health insurance option from the beginning and used August to get feedback from you, my constituents," Ross wrote in a newsletter to constituents. "An overwhelming number of you oppose a government-run health insurance option and it is your feedback that has led me to oppose the public option as well."

"If House leadership presents a final bill that contains a government-run public option, I will oppose it," he added.

After blocking progress on House health care legislation in the days leading up to August recess, Ross struck a deal and voted to move health care legislation out of the Energy and Commerce Committee.

Then he went home and boasted that he'd held health care reform "hostage."

6. When their constituents wake up from the ether ... when they are financially near
destitution due to the corruption of our Corporate Nation ... THEN maybe they'll shag their asses to the polls and vote for TRUE progressives? :eyes:

14. Probably no even then.
God, guns, and gays. Besides many of the dems are in the same corporate pockets as the reps.

11. No, I've lived in a very red state. Look at some of the tea baggers. Thats the type of constituency.
...that I'm talking about. I don't like it, but sometimes the truth is something that you don't like.

16. If he's going to act like a Repub, then he's no advantage to us there
beyond making sure we have a majority - after the last election, we can afford to lose a few of these seats to show mean it rather than allow them to keep screwing us over.

It'd be nice if one of the big liberal bloggers (FireDogLake, Kos) were to ID the 5-6 worst Blue Dogs that the netroots could primary and very quickly fund
