Democrats are really pissing me off lately regarding President Obama
Edited on Fri Sep-04-09 01:34 AM by Tx4obama
There are so many Democrats bashing President Obama lately over the health care reform bill that they've just downright pissed my off!

Anyone that listened closely to Obama when he was on the campaign trail would have heard him say OVER and OVER AGAIN things to the effect of:

Change will not come easy.
Change takes time.
I can not do all of this by myself it will take each and everyone of you to help.
It will take everyone from the bottom up to get things done and to change the way things are done in Washington.
Etc, etc, etc.

And now here we are at the first most difficult challenge and so many people are sitting back on their computers, griping and bashing Obama for what he has not yet accomplished - without even giving him some time to try to get things done.

It was decades before Truman's Medicare idea was signed into law by LBJ.

The Civil Rights Act was not signed into law over night.

Women did not obtain the right to vote without one hellasish fight.

It took a war to end slavery -- and even more time after that until everyone was free.

President Obama has been in office less than eight months and people are expecting him to pull miracles out of his ass!

Enough with the bashing - start putting your energy into doing something positive instead of spreading hopelessness, despair, and cynicism. If President Obama doesn't get the exact Health Care bill passed through the Congress that you have your heart set on then at least extend your thanks to him for at least trying to do so. That is more than than any Republican would ever do on this issue.

I hope everyone will sit back and try to put themselves in President Obama's shoes for a few minutes and think about it for a long time -- before they sit at their computers and type out anything negative that doesn't at all help the situation.

Goodnight and good luck to all.

Ciao!

Edited to add:

President Obama has 100's of things on his plate other than health care - you wouldn't know it by listening to the media every day.

No president is a 'one issue' president and President Obama should not be judged by only one issue.

Btw, over at Politifact.com on their Obameter of the 516 campaign promises that they are tracking -- so far President Obama has fulfilled at least 40 of his campaign promises and 88 have been rated 'in the works' http://politifact.com/truth-o-meter /

I am very proud of President Obama for what he has accomplished in the short time that he has been in the White House.

God Bless the Obama Family!

1. Well, HCR has been on the plate for 60 years.
And, in that time, the only thing we got was Medicare (and that required JFK to die from an assassin before they were shamed into passing it) and SCHIP.

So I'm tired of waiting.

And Obama (if the stories are true) is not "playing chess" or any other brilliant strategy.

And if he has lost ME... well, I was one of his biggest boosters here.

13. I don't have insurance --- BUT
I don't have insurance and can't afford it.
But if the public option doesn't make it into the final bill, then it won't be a reason for me not to vote for President Obama in 2012.

20. Health care is not just 1 of the 100's of things on Obama's plate.
Health care is as essential as food and water to people.

You may not have health care now and you may not care that you do. But if you broke your neck tomorrow and you didn't have health care your attitude would suddenly change about what priority it is in your life and what priority it should be on Obama's plate.

Obama is toast if he can't get this done. He has the presidency, and the Democrats rule both the Senate and the House. I will be looking for another Democrat for president or a 3rd party if Obama can not deliver. It is that simple.

21. I disagree...
I do think that healthcare is an important issue, but I think that Obama's fight with Hillary during the primary made it more of an important issue than it was. If I broke my neck right now I would be treated in the ER because they could not refuse to treat me - and I would love to have insurance/healthcare right now. BUT, I do not believe that if President Obama does not get a 'public option' in the bill that it would be a reason to toss him out of office. We would be in worse shape with a republican in office, or some other less intelligent democrat.

There are many important issues though and some are more important than health care reform:

Keeping America safe from an invasion.
Keeping our troops overseas safe/ending the war in Iraq/wining the fight in Afghanistan/and bringing the troops home
Getting handle on the deficit/economy
Energy independence and a permanent fuel alternative
Securing the nukes around the world
to name a few.

23. and he is making a calculated bet that most Democrats and
Obama voters are like you (or I should say, Rahm is making the calculated bet).

Thing of it is... he will be grossly miscalculating.

He never really had the PUMAs, and they will be quick to say "We told you so". And the young people he inspired? They are only inspired by something new, 4 years on and Obama will be old hat, nothing much new there.

And what will he campaign on? "Change"? Or "vote for me, I'm not a republican".

Point is, he is losing the support of the base of the party (that would be me and lots of people like me). People that put tons of money into his campaign war chest, people that knocked on doors and made phone calls. Even if the repukes run a whackadoodle that scares the bejeebus out of everyone, will that be enough to motivate folks?

I don't think so.

BTW, how IS that whole "winning the fight in Afghanistan" thing going? :sarcasm:

And if you thought August was bad with the town halls and the 9/12 birthers and stuff, just wait until Cap and Trade come around. Now that they know it works to sling bullshit and frighten the Dems with some guns and signs, They'll be BAAAACK.

You know what I got involved in the guy's campaign over this one issue.

This isn't about me only, I have friends and family who are in or were in a terrible situation due to healthcare and I've watched this guy take the issue down in flames.

He has 60 fucking Senators and he can't pass anything.

30. Are you putting pressure on the 5-6 Senators who are NOT supporting him on the public option?
You can state simply that "he has 60 senators", but he only has 59 in reality (Kennedy is dead if you hadn't noticed) and another who's very ill, never mind the several who aren't supporting the public option. What are you doing to put pressure on those idiot Senators? It takes all of us to offset the horrible lies the right-wing racists are putting forth - are you going to help or piss and moan about how you helped him get elected and he owes you now?

35. I live in PA
I worked to get a democratic Senator against Santorum in 2006, and I worked to get this guy elected in 2008.

Arlen Specter supports the public option.

What the hell pressure do I have to put to people who don't represent me.

There isn't a Senator that doesn't support the public option within 3 states of me.

I'm sorry the rest of the country is stupid and I live in a reasonable state.

As far as the Civil Rights Act goes, folks got sick and tired of waiting and decided to antagonize the system. MLK held LBJ by the balls as did all the other Civil Rights Activists.

12. In all fairness, MLK did not hold LBJ by the balls, they worked together. LBJ wanted the civil
act

He also knew the consequences of it, that the South would move away from voting Democratic, which nixon used with his scorch and burn policy

It was only the last election where the Democrats started to some Southern states back in their column

Of course, the republican party is employing the scorch and burn policy, and the party of Lincoln, is now becoming the party of intolerance, corporate greed, and racism

11. I think progressives have said enough is enough.
The republicans have already told you what their situation is, they will do everything in their power to see Obama fails. They have called Obama every name in the book, and yet Obama still wants to negotiate with them?

What bothers progressives is that the Democrats are not even fighting.

We will see what happens on Wednesday, but I tell if he doesn't back a public option, without nuances, the Democratic party is going to face a bumpy road from the progressives

If the Democratic party believes they can do it without the progressives, they will be in for a rude awakening

They're a combination of Hillary backers who would sacrifice real lives in order to claim vindication, very far left Naderites who would sacrifice real lives in order to claim vindication, and just plain malcontents who find things to bitch about no matter what is going on. And a handful of trolls on top of it.

Democrats always knew this was going to be a tough job to take on.
