Need some research help, DUers
At my work, somebody posted one of those "I'll keep my MONEY, my GUNS, and my FREEDOM. You can keep the CHANGE" anti-Obama signs on a bulletin board.

A couple of weeks ago I posted "A Day in the Life of Joe Middle-Class Republican", but it vanished late last week.

Surprise surprise.

Anyway, I was thinking of posting a specific reply to each point made in the sign, starting with "money".

Specifically, I was looking for the following graphs:

  • a 100-year graph of real manufacturing wages

  • a graph showing the percentage of income tax paid by individuals vs. corporations from inception to now

  • and maybe a graph showing the percent the median family pays in income taxes from inception to now

Or if you know where I could find tables, I could make my own spreadsheet and graph.

I can do the "guns" thing on my own, but if anybody also knows where I could get a timeline of Bush/Congressional violations of our freedoms, I'd appreciate it as well. You know, starting the warrantless illegal wiretapping/datamining, repeal of Possse Comitatus, Hebeas Corpus, any executive orders he issued, etc.

I tried Google, but didn't have much luck.

Thanks in advance!

:hi:

1. You might try the Google.
I don't happen to know offhand where to find those graphs. but I'm sure they exist. Several years ago I came across some very interesting graphs showing job growth and unemployment under each president since at least Truman. There is generally at best flat job growth under Republicans, and often negative job growth. Always very good job growth under Democrats.

And re-post A Day in the Life of Joe Republican while you're at it. Those idiots need to see it.

7. Aren't y'all getting more in your paychecks?
Remember the tax reduction? Compare paycheck stubs from December to May. I'm on SS, and our payments are adjusted by some index. For the first time in history, they will not increase next year due to the terrible economic index in the last quarter of 2008. Due, of course to Bush theivery. The RW'ers are blaming Obama. Par. They are also blaming him for the Medicare prescripton plan, which may go up even though incomes won't. That was ALL Tom Delay's doing. He dances with the stars while retired and elderly go without medicine. :grr:

Good for you trying to show logic to those people. They don't have a grasp of it. I guess you know that.

8. I always liked this one
All those Red States that hate the government so much would be up a creek without the federal dollars from the Blue States. Talk about redistrbution of wealth!
