Most people have no idea of how many ways his tireless efforts impacted our lives. Saying he will be missed doesn't even begin to describe the magnitude of how much we will miss him.

13. Edward Kennedy Jr. was always my Kennedy cousin crush. And he's still so handsome!
God bless those "kids." Teddy Jr. lost a leg to cancer; Kara had lung cancer she believed would kill her (and now she's healthy and runs 5 miles a day); Patrick had a noncancerous tumor on his spine, and all those kids have coped with both Teddy's cancer and their mother's breast cancer.

Jean Kennedy Smith looks great! The only one left of that massive family.

I use to check in to see what was the latest --- I still do, but now I think of you first. Just wanted to let you know your efforts are the highlights of the day for someone in Las Vegas.

The contrast of the people Teddy inspired and who are giving their thanks to the ugly mobs of late is remarkable. The kids in his office and the two little ones with notes in their hands for Teddy really got me going...

Thank you for bringing these beautiful pics to us.

35. That photo of Kara kinda of rips your heart out.
And it's so wonderful to see Joan with the extended family. She is family, but sometimes divorce rips families apart.

Vicki seems like an incredible woman -- a very strong, take-charge kind of person, just like her husband.

I was watching the coverage this afternoon and saw Joe touch the back of the hearse. So moving.

This morning on Morning Joe, they showed on of the second generation of Kennedy's talking about the third generation. All the children and grandchildren were asked to be part of a receiving line. One 7 year old grandson said how much it affected him. He hadn't realized his grandfather was so important, he just knew him as grandpa.

65. Oh, dear, here come the tears yet again!
The family looks more lost than I've ever seen them; they've lost their "center", the one who kept everyone together no matter what happened. Poor Jean, too, to have lost Eunice just a couple weeks ago and now her final sibling. Too many Americans just don't realize the incalculable debt we owe to the good senator, and to his brothers as well. I still can't believe he's gone, it just doesn't seem possible. You always thought he'd be there, a voice for us, when too many others are more concerned with the welfare of the strong and powerful.

And like some of the other posters, I'm in tears.

We democrats, everyone in America, actually, were lucky to have Senator Kennedey advocate for many causes that made all of the difference for all of us. And there aren't many like him who can move beyond the rhetoric to action.

He will be sorely missed.

76. Teddy
I succumbed too, hard to look at these photos without tears welling up. The good thing is that we had the benefit of him doing his best to help regular folks far longer than Jack and Bobby were allowed to (I'll never believe it was just two lone nuts).

It got me thinking about the often told story of Rose always sitting her children down at some appropriate point and explaining that they would never want for anything, they were some of the lucky ones, and because of this they should do all they could to help the disadvantaged, the people who had been kicked to the curb by life. It obviously took. All of it the direct opposite of wealthy families like the greedy Waltons.

Teddy rocked and like so many others all over the earth I will miss him.

79. Thank you for sharing these. So hard to believe he is gone from us.
Such a loss for so many.
