Gazing into the crystal ball - Obama's RCP numbers on Jan. 20, 2010
I think things are trending Obama's way on health care, but Obama will have to be the one to seal the deal. He'll do this by going on national TV sometime in September, once the Dems have decided what they are going to rally behind, and making his case to the American People. Many Americans who were scared by all the right-wing nonsensical anti-Obama accusations will come to their senses. A bill will pass, life will go on, the far right will remain scared and angry.

Obama's approval numbers at RCP on Jan. 20, 2010 will be:
56.3 approve 40.9 disapprove

1. He could be below 50%
But as long as he doesn't dip below 45% it won't be a catastophe. By that date the recession will likely be over on paper, but it will take another 18 months for Americans to "feel it".

2. Hard to say for January
I expect the economy to begin adding jobs sometime around December and January. It'll take a while for that to sink in with most people. I think by next summer his approval ratings are approaching the previous highs.

3. The Chicken Little wing of the GOP...
...has given it their best "sky is falling' routine, complete with Sister Sarah trotting out the "death panel" remark. Remember the big fuss over "lipstick on a pig" during the campaign, and how Obama eventually prevailed on that, uh, "issue"? The same thing is under way right now, except most media outlets are doing all they can to keep the fight going. Why? Media loves a fight, even if they have to egg it on in a very irresponsible fashion. I stand by my prediction - Obama at 56.3 percent on Jan. 20, 2010, according to the RCP averages.
