12. Ed and Alter have differing opinions on how to best achieve healthcare reform.
Ed was passionate, as he often is, and Alter was standing pat. I loved it -- it was a good, HONEST debate between two good guys who want to achieve the same objective.

8. Alter actually makes a good point
it is true that there are many ways to skin a cat

regulating the hell out of the insurance industry could potentially do the same thing

9. Agree -- and there are always good points on BOTH sides of a real, honest
debate.

10. Regulations always leave wiggle room to circumvent the regulations
I think thats why a corporatist like Alter wants that instead of a public option.

13. So that Phil Gramm can come back repeal them. No, a public option will be
set in stone like Medicare and they all know it.

16. It would be so easy for the Repugs to put that 'genie' back
in the bottle. De-regulation, a la Ronnie Reagan, would put us right back where we started. And they'll do it as soon as they win back power (which they will eventually - nothing lasts forever).

15. If Ed would just shut up for maybe 10 seconds, I could actually hear what Alter was saying.
It was a good, healthy debate, but I really would like to hear more of Alter's side. He was making some sense there.

22. Agreed. I was thinking the same thing. I thought Ed was going to
blow a gasket, and he nearly did. But Alter is right, legislating almost always means compromise because the Dems have some conservatives on their team. The Republicans, on the other hand, have NO liberals on their team so they had no problem pushing crap through because conservative Dems often vote with them. Shit, even Hillary voted for the Iraq war!

18. Ed's a nice guy.......
.... but he's a goob.

Sometimes I think that the only thing separating him and the jokes at Faux is politically ideology.

21. I agree Clio
there was a time when a lot of us didn't really even believe Ed Shultz was really a democrat, but just a guy who saw a niche to make some money. He even copied Rush's tone and if you didn't know what station you were on 5 years ago you couldn't tell if you were listening to Schultz or Limbaugh. Personally, I'd like to see Lawrence O'Donnell on MSNBC @ 6PM instead.

23. oh, I dont doubt his ideology.....
.... I just dont dig his delivery.

Perhaps I'm showing my liberaly snobishness, but one thing I like about Tweety, Keith and Rachel is their delivery is a little more intellectual than the emotional pandering that Fox has made into an art form. Ed does the same thing sometimes.

But to each their own ......... and I DO wish there was room for O'Donnell ....... he's dreamy. (That's a good reason, right? lol)
