Specter tells Grassley to 'stop spreading myths'

Arlen Specter is getting a hang of this Democratic senator thing — today he ripped Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley, who this week fueled fears of "death panels" and health benefits for illegal immigrants.

"Called Senator Grassley to tell him to stop spreading myths about health care reform and imaginary "death panels," Specter tweeted.

But Grassley didn't pick up.

"Had to leave a message — for now. I will talk to him soon," Specter tweeted a minute later.

UPDATE: You gotta love it. Two septuagenarian U.S. senators are tweeting at each other!

@ChuckGrassley: "Specter got it all wrong that I ever used words "death boards". Even liberal press never accused me of that. So change ur last Tweet Arlen."

7. The opportunity to take his dignity back?
I mean when you're a Republican senator, then selling out and whoring yourself to the highest bidder is compulsory, when you're a Democrat it's merely optional...

6. I was back there when he made the call!
Edited on Fri Aug-14-09 03:04 PM by Hissyspit

He has just hung up the phone here. "Had to leave a message," he said. Some in the audience asked him if he would call Crassley and Specter said "whomever asked me to call Grassley - join me backstage and watch me dial." I will post more about his talk later.
