Howard Dean was quite good filling in for Olbermann
I just wondered whether he should introduce himself as Governor Howard Dean or as Doctor Howard Dean.

And... I did not know about the resolution that Hawaii is the birth place of our President. This must have really been a sight to behold - of the Republicans.

6. He was good but......
seemed a little nervous. I image he was a little nervous. It really makes you realize how good Olbermann really is.

8. I attended a rally he spoke at one time,
there were a few hundred people and he spoke very well, ms-nbc needs to give him more time in front of the camera and I think he will become a very good spokesman for the Democratic Party!

Why the hell didn't we elect this man president when we had the chance?

16. I still don't know why they kicked him off the party chair
He was behind the taking control of Congress and the White House with his 50 states strategy. Even if we are unhappy now with the Blue Dogs, thanks to them we can at least control the agenda. And, as posted on another thread, a blue dog is better than the rabid RW who held that seat before.

11. The problems he had as a candidate were OBVIOUS last night...
Edited on Wed Jul-29-09 09:37 AM by Bennyboy
Wooden delivery. he looked and acted like he was reading everything and was so dry. It is like when the cameras are on him everything is either so fake or measured. He needs to way lighten up and seem like he has some personality.

All in all, I thought he was okay, but not that great.

12. The stuff in the prompter clearly wasn't written for him
I think if he had sat down and written it all himself it might have flowed a little more smoothly, but that's expecting a bit much. Maybe they can go over the script a little better for today's show.

14. He was quite good
and would be even better with a format of his choosing, theme music of his own choosing, and his own time slot where he wouldn't have to suck up...

MSNBC has Friday night, all day Saturday, Sunday where they are in sore need of some political programing, and there are 3 morning programs they could replace with Gov. Dean on weekdays - Joe, Dillon Radigan, and Doctor Nancy. Haven't watched MSNBC in the morning since their new lineup. And while they're replacing these 3 shows, also replace the idiot who put Joe, Radigan, and Dr. Nancy on in the first place.

Dr. Dean could bring me back from CNN . . .

18. I like the way he questions the guests.
I don't know why but I feel more involved in the discussion when he does it and more interested in the answers.

With Olbermann I feel more of a spectator admiring a caustic wit.

19. Good observation
I tend to feel the same way about Olbermann as well. I thought Dr. Dean did a great job, much better than Richard Wolff who was a bit painful to watch. Dean and Wolffe proved, and Dr. Dean mentioned, that Olbermann's job is a lot harder than it looks. But I thought he did a great job.

21. I liked it, but it could have been better. I noticed he was reading off cue cards, instead of
winging it like when he appears as a guest on Keith/Rachel.

They should have just given him a quick intro to read, a few sentences, and then let him interview the guest ad hoc. I think the program flow would have been better.
