First, I will maintain that that question would not have been asked of any of our previous white presidents.
Second, perhaps just perhaps, President Obama has some vivid memories of his days as a community organizer. Perhaps he remembers actions by Chicago police that were way out of bounds and were harassment against people in his community.

I remember when there was (yet another RW controversy) whether Obama was black enough, his answer was something to the effect that police would stop him for DWB.
