8. Yes, he's a happy kid - he's my son.
I'm that kid's mom. His name is Liam. He's telling Barack that he's five years old. Funny thing is, that was also his FIFTH time hugging Barack (I was active in the campaign from February during the build up to the Ohio primaries). The reason Liam has had so many opportunities to hug now-President Obama is because I'm physically challenged, I use a wheelchair or mobility scooter to be able to go to the rallies. Liam jumps off my lap to hug Barack, he tries to do so while Obama is still speaking. There are more pictures from that rally (of Liam, of just Barack, and of other people that were there) in my Facebook photo album if anyone cares to see more.

I was really impressed with the student on the stage who got to ask Barack a question (his name is Brendan, I spoke to him outside while we were waiting for the motorcade to leave so that people could get back to their cars). I captured some good images of him and Barack having their little back-and-forth.

If anyone is interested, I'm trying to get a little project started along the six degrees of separation concept, but with hugging the president. I own the domain name hugbarack.com, if anyone knows others who have gotten personal hugs from the president and are willing to spread the love, I'd love to have their participation. It's totally not for profit and just for fun. I'm starting graduate school next month so not sure how much time I'll have to devote to it, I'm hoping others will like the idea enough to help manage it too. I can be reached via private messages through this site regarding that.
