What does the GOP want GOVERNMENT to run? Anything?
The GOP's agenda is privatization.

Privatization of everything from local, state and federal. That means no government and no taxes. They want you to pay corporations for the priveledge.

Your local services will not be run from your council or county - streets will be cleaned by private comapanies, schools will be all private. If you can't afford to send your kid to school - tough - no education. Private police forces, private fire fighters.

The GOP will be in a constant Orwellian-style war so the kids will go to battle. Even the military will be private as we have seen the proto-type in Iraq.

What about health? Seniors and the unemployed would have to buy healthcare from fat insurance companies. If you can't afford it - tough. There will be no help from the government for old people's retirement homes. Your retirement funds will be all private - no social security.

Everything will be determined by Wall Street. Congress will just meet to give the green light to companies. The DOJ will meet to hound, spy on and jail you if you step out of line. The White House will meet to make sure Wall Street gets its way and gets its big donations.

BEFORE 2006 WE WERE ALMOST THERE AND NO ONE NOTICED!

When you are fighting for healthcare, education and the environment think about what Obama is saying - what is the alternative if we piddle around and not get it passed ASAP?

41. Privatization allows the GOP to take kick backs in the form of contributions.
When government ran more functions, there was no way to get public money into the campaign coffers of politicians. By privatizing things like prisons, they created the vehicle for massive graft and corruption. The GOP is run by contributions from those who get large government contracts.

The proponents always sell the idea as a cost saving mechanism, but it's a license to steal.

There are many young doctors who wish we would have some form of Universal Health Care provided, who don't want the insurance industry running it, and who already lament the time they have to spend dealing with and worrying about insurance related issues.

Edited on Sun Aug-30-09 08:16 AM by Avalux
GOP leaders are greedy fucks who manipulate their followers with an authoritarian style whose pillars are fear and hate - so the people choose against their own best interests. This is fascinating to me, how the GOP is able to do this; much the same way the Nazi party manipulated the German people.

Concentration of wealth, their pockets get line and to hell with the American people. They hated Roosevelt, hated what he was able to accomplish in creating the middle class.

The people that could not afford education, healthcare, police and fire protection, etc. etc. would greatly out-number those that can afford it. Then the people would use the only power that they had, their numbers, to re-take power.

76. It used to be that the only government-run enterprise that they would ever accept was
the military. And now they don't even want that anymore because they know that they can make more money off of privatization.

It's no longer the Military Industrial Complex; it's amount gutting government, once and for all.

If they cannot make money using the government apparatus, they'll do it through privatization.

They are so extreme that they don't want ANYTHING run by government...not even Veterans Administration. You see how they're now going after the VA. That's the latest talking point. After all these years, suddenly the VA is ineffective. Really?
