Bumper Sticker update...what about your state?
Kerry still has a slight edge in Colorado.

I went to Ohio for a spiritual gathering last week and while driving from Columbus to the W. Virginia border my friends and I played the bumper sticker game. Kerry leads there too 2 to 1.

How about anywhere else?

5. Over here in the Ann Arbor area
am wallowing with joy in Kerry signs and stickers every time I leave the house! Gawd, it sure beats all the years I lived in red states! Only have seen maybe 3 Bush stickers at most, and those were invariably accompanied by Jayzus stickers, don't kill babies stickers, etc.

Don't worry 'bout Michigan.

6. Indiana: All Quiet on this front
I'm seeing about an equal number of stickers and signs. Very few signs overall, though, since both campaigns have written us off.

Bush will carry Indiana by over 60%, but he won't win my county. We were one of only 6 that went for Gore (out of 92) IN 2000.

11. Bloomington area. Haven't been counting, but I've seen more K/E stickers
than Bush stickers. The signs are all pretty much even, although I haven't seen many at all. One of the frats I drive by had a big "Remember 9/11....Support Our Troops" sign up. This didn't bother me, except for the W stickers on the SUVs in the driveway. I live right near Wal-Mart (but never shop there) and am surprised at the relative lack of b/c stickers.

7. Here in Kansas
I see very few of either Bush* or Kerry stickers or signs. I have seen one or two Bush* signs in yards but a lot more Kerry signs. My son in Kansas City, just over the state line says he sees nothing but Kerry signs. Last time I was there on the Kansas side, deep in the neighborhoods I saw a sea of Kerry signs. My experience is a bit limited but still, it was all Bush* last election.

16. Hard to say.
I still am not hearing a lot about the upcoming election anywhere except in the LTTE section of the newspaper and those are about 2 to 1 pro Kerry here in Topeka. It is hard to say, most people I engage are either voting for Kerry or they won't commit yet. Only one or two have actually said to me they will vote Bush* no matter what and that is a HUGE difference from last time and to me it means that Bush* has some 'splainin to do and he is not doing it.

This is SW Portland -- not as hardcore liberal as other parts of Portland. You cannot go more than a few houses without seeing a Kerry sign. Also a few brave/stupid souls put out Bush signs.

Bumperstickers -- fuggedaboudit in Portland. Kerry, Kerry, Kerry and anti-* stickers on about 1 out of 5 - 10 cars. It's a more mixed bag in Beaverton (suburb); I see lotsa Kerry stickers but also a lot of stickers for Dumbass.

Not only various Kerry/Edwards stickers, but sooooo many anti-bush stickers as well. I'd say the score is 80% Kerry, 20% Bush (maybe 75-25, with a 4% error margin).

I have seen one Bush sign, but it's from a republican party hack. I have a Kerry sign but I haven't put it up. I have put up a sign for a congressional candidate and soon for a state assembly candidate.

There are definitely more Kerry stickers here, but I see some Bushler stickers occasionally. The other day Kerry lost 3-1 but I haven't seen any since. Usually Kerry outnumbers Bush by several.

In my town (state capitol, small, surrounded by rural) Bush has an edge, but it's not as much as 2 to 1. One thing interesting I did see recently: I had to drive 150 miles south from here, almost to the Arkansas border, for work, and on the highway going down, in all these hamlets, were Kerry yard signs, as well as Claire McCaskill for Governor signs! I'd say, for the whole trip, it was 50-50, which is pretty amazing, because this highway (63) goes through only one sizeable city and the rest are all small bergs. There was plenty of dubya crap too, but I was really heartened to see so much support for Kerry in the rural areas.

39. Kerry in a landslide in MI
Sunday we counted 7 cars with Kerry stickers, none with BushCo, on the way back from the RenFest.

The best part was that 2 of those cars (3 if you count mine) were not just the one sticker, but plastered, which I assume means some serious activists in the car. One had them not just all over the back, but on the sides as well. Several Granholm stickers were on that one, and hanging inside, a blazer with a Kerry pin. :)

At the festival itself, a dumb and dumber shirt, a kerry/edwards shirt, a Marriage is a human right, not a heteroexual privilege shirt, and a Kerry pin. No bush shirts at all.

We wore our Run Against Bush shirts in the airport (SFO) as usual and also people from all over came up and gave us thumbs up sign or right on.

It's sickening. Many, many yard signs. "W" bumber stickers abound. Interesting that the majority, maybe the VAST majority, of bush bumper stickers are on SUV's. Many of those on Chevy Suburbans.

Sure, a few Kerry signs around but not many.

My reaction. I have a nice sign I made that I carry in my car. Printed on it in large block letters is
"4 More Wars." I flash that at folks with bush stickers when I can.

It helps me feel a bit better anyhow.

There are no political bumper stickers this time around. It's odd. There are flags, and the usual assortment of fish, NRA stickers, a deer silhouette or two. I saw one HRC sticker with a Darwin fish the other day. A couple of weeks ago, I was at a stop light behind a car from out of town that had a "Republicans for Voldemort" sticker. Otherwise... nothing.

There are more Democrats than I realized in the area, though the votes fall predominantly Repub. I don't know about other Dems, but I haven't had the nerve to put on stickers. My car is brand new, and while 99% of my fellow citizens are nice folks, there are some good old boys around here who don't have good impulse control under the best of circumstances, so...

Yard signs are a similar story. They were out in force for the primary, but I've only seen a handful of yard signs for the upcoming election, all local and state.

One of the neighbors had a "support the troops" sign out for months. It's gone. My parents have new neighbors just next door who are apparently Repub party muckity mucks, but they have only two yard signs that just went up, neither of which are for Bush/Cheney. Saxby Chambliss' house is a few doors down from them. No signs in the yard at all. Driving around town there's the occasional ten commandments sign, the occasional local or state sign. It's sparse.

It's very, very quiet.

ETA: I'm taking this lack as a good sign. There's a bulletin board in the local library with pictures of all of the people from the area who have been called up to serve. Almost all of them are very young, and there are a shocking number considering the rural area. Maybe it's still early days, maybe I'm overly optimistic, but I think there might be some heavy thinking going on. One can hope.
