Withdraws funding for needle exchange. Wants to work it out with Congress. ... seems to be his usual line of buck passing. Happy karma, O, inheriting suffering when you could be inheriting benefit.

33. Like it or not, he's compromised us right out of the best opportunities we've had...
...in decades ~ in fact the mistakes he's made were because of his unwillingness to risk political capital.

It's possible for thinking people to support the president and still see this tendency in him.

10. I'm not referring to this particular blog post, which is easily debunked as hysterically irrational.
I was referring to how Americablog has morphed into the "Bash Obama 'Round the Clock" blog.

If that's you're style, have at it. I, on the other hand, prefer to keep my eyes fixed on the real political enemy.

19. totally unfair to Aravosis
you called him clownish earlier and hysterical now. Neither of which you explain.

There is nothing hysterical or irrational in that post at all. It's mostly reporting and some commenting on an important issue. Are the AIDS activists he's writing about clownish and hysterical?

What about the issue? What about the funding? Does that matter at all to you, or does defending Obama come first always?

From the blog entry:

Candidate Obama said he would help overturn the ban on needle exchange. President Obama reversed himself and banned federal funding for needle exchanges in his budget this year.

Aravosis has concluded (some may say irrationally) that since he sees no funding for needle exchange program in this year's budget, the President has broken a campaign promise. Never mind whatever else is in the works, as explained by the WH spokesperson and others who are actually involved in the process. It's all about the narrow view of a blogger that matters.

This has become a pattern with Americablog. Aravosis and Chris have an obvious axe to grind with Obama and they are doing it in a very crude way, in my opinion.

EDIT: Of course, this issue is important to me as well. I expect to see it addressed in the appropriate way by Obama, working in concert with the Congress and relevant executive departments/officials.

50.  Your point? Did you see the OP's title and the article statement?!
President Obama did not say he wouldn't lift the ban. However, that is done with Congress who writes a bill and he gets to repeal any laws that affect this situation. He can't do that alone. Yet the OP is pushing another meme all together. That's misleading, disingenuous, and basically lying to get a probably reaction from knee-jerk responders.

52. No, Obama should be on TV everyday
Urging the repeal of the law! He should call a special press conference about it, right fucking NOW!

Barring that, he should simply order the federal government to ignore the explicitly stated law. Just ignore it, cuz it sucks anyway.

Besides, we don't have more far-reaching problems to deal with (priorities-wise), so his non-pressconferencing on needles obviously means that he SUPPORTS NEEDLESS DEATH AND disease. He fucking SUPPORTS DISEASE!!!! And NEEDLESS DEATH at that! Is that the change you were hoping for, a President who SUPPORTS NEEDLESS Death??????
