2. Well, The Choir Can Always Call Their Congressional Rep!
Edited on Mon Jun-15-09 02:30 PM by TomCADem
The nice thing about preaching to the choir, is that the choir can turn around an amplify the message. :)

From Organizing for America's website:

Calling Tips
Here are some tips:

Be polite, respectful and clear. Introduce yourself to whoever answers the phone and let them know you are a constituent – mention what city you live in. Tell them you are calling to say that you strongly support President Obama’s three principles for health care reform in 2009. Congress must pass a plan that reduces costs, guarantees choice – including the choice of a public insurance option – and ensures quality care for every American. Ask if your member of Congress also supports these three principles. Example Script for Your Calls
Hello, my name is __________ and I'm a constituent calling from __________ (city or town).

I’m calling today because I wanted to let you know that I strongly support President Obama's 3 principles for real health care reform. Any plan Congress passes must reduce health care costs, guarantee choice – including a public insurance option – and ensure quality care for every American.

Also, I think it's critical to get this done in 2009; it's just too urgent to wait any longer.

Does (Rep./Sen.) _________ support these 3 principles?

Thank you!

3. It's great. It is important to keep the troops fired up. This is a movement that is growing.
That is because people are talking to their neighbors and their coworkers. There's been a number of editorials recently also strongly favoring a public option preferably single payer.

Because Ed has good visibility throught MSM - the same audience is not necessarily being addressed when Ed speaks.

4. Yep, he's on a roll. One of the FEW liberals who's willing to stand up and be counted.
I was always kind of lukewarm toward Big Ed until he got his teevee show. I think it gave him a passionate connection to the people that he didn't quite have before.

Congress pay if they sell us out.

7. I think Congress grossly misunderestimates the fallout if they do not establish
a single-payer system, or a strong, meaningful public health option.

8. All congress has to do is kiss the Corporate media's ass, ...
and the media will take it from there. They will distort, twist and misinform a majority of the citizenry into believing that Congress was right and the President is just plain wrong and extreme. They do it all of the time. Sure, it doesn't work that well, but well enough to keep most in Congress safe. Must be those Big Pharma commercials we keep seeing on the TeeVee that the corporate media is scared to lose the revenue from. After all, the Government doesn't pay for much advertisement.

9. Congress better not get too cocky. We have been regularly unseating
Democrats members of the Congess and Senate who do not vote like Democrats - no matter what the MSM has to say about them.

MSM is dying, most of us don't listen to them very much. We know we can not trust MSM, or rely on them for information.

10. I would love to see the MSM die a violent death,
but unfortunately for us, they still have great influence.

As for Senators who do not vote like Democrats, I agree, we have to get rid of them.
They are kind of like thinking you have money in your pocket, but once you are out shopping,
and it's time to pay, you discover that it's Monopoly Money.

20. They voted him out the last time
Unfortunately Connecticut is lacking a law that most other states have. A law that says "if you lose the primary, you don't get to change parties (or invent a fictional one like Holy Joe did) and run again in the general election".

If they had that law, Ned Lamont would be in the Senate right now.

I give Ed credit for putting that aspect out there for MSM consumption.

But I make an exception when he airs these town meetings, to hear the voices of the people, as much as what he has to say.

And the voices of the people are clear on this one.... overwhelmingly FOR single payer. :kick:
