Media Matters: Newsmax blames Obama for Holocaust Museum shooting
Hours after the Holocaust Museum shooting, Newsmax.com published a column by Rabbi Dr. Morton H. Pomerantz headlined, "Obama Breeds Climate of Hate Against Jews." From the June 10 column:

Our new president did not tell a virulent anti-Semite to travel to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington to kill Jews, but he is most certainly creating a climate of hate against us.

It is no coincidence that we are witnessing this level of hatred toward Jews as President Barack Obama positions America against the Jewish state.

<...>

While Obama acknowledged that "six million Jews were killed - more than the entire Jewish population of Israel today" - his discussion about the Holocaust was followed by this statement: "On the other hand, it is also undeniable that the Palestinian people - Muslims and Christians - have suffered in pursuit of a homeland."

"On the other hand . . . "?

Obama's clever construct comparing the mass genocide of six million Jews to the Palestinian struggle will not be lost on the estimated 100 million Muslims who tuned into to hear him.

Perhaps it was not lost on James W. von Brunn, the 88-year-old white supremacist identified as the alleged attacker Wednesday at the Holocaust Museum. He apparently felt that he could easily take retribution against the Jews for the atrocities Obama implies they are guilty of.

The column is promoted at the top of Newsmax:

5. This man has been anti-Semitic for years and very openly
And he also has opening railed against Obama, so why would he even pay attention to what he said?

6. A relevant opinion piece from HuffPo today
There is no Environmental Protection Agency to measure hate pollution in national dialogue, and no mechanism in place to warn us when the poisonous rage spewed into the national consciousness by shock-jocks, poisonous television pundits, megachurch leaders, and oh-so-subtle politicians, has reached dangerously toxic levels.

No, there is only the result: widows, orphans, collective grief, and an absolute refusal on the part of our loudest, coarsest voices to take any responsibility for their part in the carnage.

I guess NewsMax would be a proud member of the "not my fault" hate mongering elite.

10. Point of contention. MEGACHURCH leaders. How many times will nonreligious people
conflate hate mongers in the pulpit from the rest of us?

Its like saying Muslims and terrorists are the same thing. There are plenty of peaceful people in Islam. The same is true of Christian church leaders. How many churches are we talking about exactly? 100 out of 1000s? It is definitely not the majority. Would you say the abomination who went into that church and murdered that abortion doctor during a Sunday service was representative of the Christians in that building or in that community?

Get it right.

7. Rabbi Pomerantz ought to read the criminal complaint against Von Brunn
And then he should shove it up his sick ass.

That complaint states (page 3, paragraph K) that one of the notebooks confiscated from von Brunn's car contained references to Obama being a creation of the Jews and controlled by them. So the notion that von Brunn, who instinctively would think that anything Obama said or did was wrong, would somehow be motivated or emboldened in any way by Obama is so twisted as to suggest the good Rabbi should be checking himself into a clinic for some drying out.

The complaint: http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/06/11/brunn.complaint.pdf

11. holy. fucking. shit...
this dude is a disgusting racist. But what do you expect from a hard-line Jewish person? This rabbi fails to accept or recognize ANY responsibility that Israel has for the current state of affairs. The Palestinian people are violent and angry because they are physically isolated into degenerate living conditions, prevented access to reliable work, food, and water, and see the land of their fathers slowly taken from them. Apparently, this rabbi didn't actually watch or listen to Obama's speech in Cairo, because if he had, he would've realized that there was no shred of anti-semitism in the President's speech, nor was there mass placation of Muslims. This rabbi, like the three generations of Jewish peoples that precede him, are foul, hateful, racist people who hold on to the bullshit idea that land is their God-given right. Well, fuck you, douchebag. Israel DID violate UN law when it illegally increased the size of its borders in the early 50s. Palestine WAS a real country before the UN decided to unlawfully eradicate the right of self determination by stripping land rights, democracy, and culture from the Palestinian people.

Fuck you and the stupid God you rode in on, rabbi.
