1. While he certainly deserves a vacation a lot more than the previous
occupant, since he has already accomplished more, I will bet he takes far fewer days off than bush.

5. Yup. I'm sure he can determine his own levels of burnout/exhaustion perfectly well.

3. One week off every 3 months.
Set an example. Everyone should have 30 days vacation a year, but 30 days all at once might be difficult for a head of state.

10. Take three weeks in August
He, unlike the former "president" is certainly entitled to a some time off. Maybe the Obamas can take a fun vacation for the girls for a week or so and the rest of the time could be spent relaxing or visiting Hawaii.

12. I voted the last option
If 4 days vacation hurts people's sensibilities, then it's the obvious choice.

13. In late August when Congress is on recess
It should be a low key vacation, but a chance to get away and do something nice with Michelle and the girls.

19. It's already been reported that he's renting a house in Martha's Vineyard this summer
and so are Hillary and Bill.

It's unconfirmed as you'll see at the link.

I think it is well-deserved.

The White House wouldn't confirm the first family's vacation plans today, but word is the Obamas have rented a house for two weeks at the end of August in the East Chop neighborhood of Oak Bluffs.

"I'm comfortable telling you rumors are flying that he's coming here," said Susan Goldstein, owner of the 40-room Mansion House in Vineyard Haven. "I can also say we've had an increase in reservations during that period."

Located on the northern tip of Martha's Vineyard, Oak Bluffs has become something of an African-American enclave. Politician and pastor Adam Clayton Powell Jr., writer Dorothy West, and Massachusetts Senator Edward Brooke were all early homeowners, and celebrities such as Spike Lee and Oprah Winfrey are frequent visitors.

Ogletree said Obama would likely use his time on the island to read, play golf, and spend time with his wife, Michelle, and the couple's two girls, Malia and Sasha. "He'll be Mr. Dad as opposed to Mr. President," Ogletree said.
