President Obama has said he will give his full support to Specter (in the 2010 race) - but if
Specter would try to filibuster the nominee to replace David Souter, then I hope the support is REVOKED....

Ok, Specter deserves credit for helping to defeat the Bork nomination, but Specter did vote YES to confirm Scalia, Thomas, Roberts, & Ailito.....

Nothing wrong w/Specter running as a Democrat next year, but he'll need to act like one to - don't go Zell Miller on us Arlen...

I know President Obama can't say it, but this pick HAS to be a liberal, just to keep some balance....Because you know damn well if it was President McCain replacing David Souter, the nominee would be a solid conservative, no if's and's or but's about it....McCain probably would have sought someone to the right of Robert Bork....

1. Specter said today that he will oppose public healthcare.
I thought that might have been the trade-off, but all bets are off now. I fully support Sestak waging a primary challenge to that mess.

4. Of course
Specter is no friend of ours. He just turned on his party to get re-elected and keep power. He's been in the senate for all the time we have been going down and he just wants to finish us off, hence his power grab.

As for Obama, he's just blowing smoke up Specter's ass.

2. I think this deal was cut between Specter and Biden and the whole Souter thing was "on the table"
After all, the seats are already filled on the Judiciary Committee for this year.

I don't know that for a fact, it just seems rather logical to me.

5. Fuck Specter. He's useless to us. Won't even support health care.
I hope PA elects a REAL Democrat.

6. There is no reason to think Spector will not support any of Obama's nominees
Edited on Sun May-03-09 02:30 PM by Gman
Unless Obama nominates Charlie Manson or someone similar for UN ambassador or something. He wants and needs all the support in the Democratic primary he can get.

7. I think that's the point-- Obama has complete power over him by threatening to support

an opponent in the primary. The threat is implied, and I doubt Specter would ever buck the prez on substantial issues.
