Kerry on Ed Schultz: we can pursue the truth and do the business of the country

Kerry: Clearly somebody has got to be held accountable

He also called for an investigation independent of politics, similar to what General Karpinski is advocating.

Something tells me this is going to blow up, that is Bush, Cheney and the other war criminals are in deep shit.

1. Yes, and I think this is a planned roll out of this information
Various sources said last November (Sy Hersh pointed this out, btw) that we would hear revelations in the spring about the really awful things that the Bush Administration did.

I think the timing of these revelations was deliberate. I think the Obama Administration got the economic plan in place first, then had the timing right for the rollout of this information.

And, so help me God, I think President Obama and a lot of Democrats on Capitol Hill are praying that the outrage over this is enough to demand action. They can't do this without the will of the people.

5. I think so..they had to lay
the groundwork and it is important that we have his back on getting the bush torturers prosecuted.

6. That is interesting - It means we should be monitoring and writing LTTEs
just as we did leading up to the election. This will be a contest to determine who "wins" the PR war - the neocons and Bush apologists claiming this was necessary dirty work to "keep us safe" and us saying it made us less safe and destroyed our moral credibility.

You already have Cheney's disingenuous demand that they release the memo showing it worked. In fact, had there been clear threats stopped and the plotters captured, it would have been on page 1 of every newspaper the next day - released by Bush. Remember the British were angry that the US forced them to act against the Pakistan based plot to blow up London to the US flights in August 2006. (Remember this started the ban on all but small liquids in carry ons) Clearly, the intent was to be able to claim their anti-terrorism effort was working. (It backfired slightly, with people like George Will saying that it meant that Kerry had been right in 2004 as it was discovered by just the type of follow the money approach he advocated.

If they had stopped a believable plot, it would have been out there especially once Republican candidates cratered everywhere.

14. The torture apologists are advancing two arguments:

1) Releasing the memos jeopardizes U.S. national security and 2)Investigating and prosecuting will distract from important work.

4. The Bushtards have already lost their empire.
Now it's just a matter of reeling them in one by one. For the first time I see a glimmer of actual justice being done. It feels unfamiliar, amazing.
