I don't care if we're talking about Adolph Hitler himself, torture is wrong, PERIOD.

I'm sick of seeing people try to justify it, on DU of all places. YES, a lot of the people who were tortured are probably terrorists and killers, but that doesn't make it right. At all.
We're better than that...or at least, we claim we are. We better start fucking proving it.

1. Of course we are better than that
Especially considering some of the financial incentives offered for *reporting* someone.

2. Is anybody actually defending the "interrogation techniques" themselves?
All I see are some people (myself included) pointing out why, under American law, it may be impossible for a United States court to convict people on the field for administering torture based on their reliance on the DOJ memos. (Google "entrapment by estoppel." Like it or not, it's the law of the land.)

That doesn't make what happened right, or even make it "not torture" according to objective standards. But it also doesn't mean that people pointing out the legal obstacles to prosecution are condoning torture.

3. There is at least one poster specifically saying torture is good.
as long as the person being tortured is really really bad.

4. 'k, well, in that case, ick.
I hadn't seen that...not that it should surprise me. I have seen the Obama administration compared to Nazis, so it follows that someone would be just as vile from the other side.

8. We're not better than that. We've NEVER been better than that.
We just haven't done it so blatantly and openly for a while. This sort of thing has been going on forever. And it will continue to go on. BushCo didn't invent U.S. torture and Obama won't end it. He'll just put it back under wraps.

11. The "beacon" is a farce.
And I'd suggest you grab a bucket to carry around as you will be vomiting often. The truth is very ugly.
