I would hope no one thinks or say that. Furthermore, I don't think this is a perk that any of the previous First Ladies had on a day to day basis.

I think there is far too much emphasis on looks - especially here in the DU forum. We have a depression going on. I think the White House in general should be holding back spending. They should not be making statements in expensive clothing and expensive parties. There are too many people right now in this country without jobs or even a roof over their heads.

And the First Lady's presentation is certainly something the international press (and the U.S. press) scrutinizes, very critically at times. I guess he thinks this is fair play for the fuss over Sarah ('jes folks) Palin's stylin'. It's kind of a boilerplate objection. Soon enough we will hear about the cost of the President's haircuts.
