Last night Hannity was going off on Michelle Obama for taking her own stylist and hairdresser to Europe with her.

isn't that the norm?

18. Did he say that?
I would hope no one thinks or say that. Furthermore, I don't think this is a perk that any of the previous First Ladies had on a day to day basis.

I think there is far too much emphasis on looks - especially here in the DU forum. We have a depression going on. I think the White House in general should be holding back spending. They should not be making statements in expensive clothing and expensive parties. There are too many people right now in this country without jobs or even a roof over their heads.

33. You don't think? I'd like some proof
because the Obamas have been very thrifty with their perks so you don't get to say this without evidence.

14. The First Frump never had a stylist.
She'd bring along a C-5 packed with industrial strength hair spray, blood red lip stick, beige to bone Star Trek tunics, baggy or too tight black slacks, past their warranty foundation garments, Wal-Mart sling backs and gowns that would melt if she came close to a microwave.

bedroom in the White House according to the map of the house.

No one (except Faux maybe) expects them to start looking up hairdressers in the Yellow Pages in every European city they hit. And the First Lady's presentation is certainly something the international press (and the U.S. press) scrutinizes, very critically at times. I guess he thinks this is fair play for the fuss over Sarah ('jes folks) Palin's stylin'. It's kind of a boilerplate objection. Soon enough we will hear about the cost of the President's haircuts. GWB, of course, had Laura do his at home. And vice versa. :sarcasm:

16. Michelle is the first First Lady to have a personal makeup artist.
That's what they were talking about. She had some woman who did her makeup in Chicago travel with her to Europe. There are articles on Politico and Huff on this subject.

Her eyebrows are very arched, but if she likes them that way it's no one else's business.

35. She is not the first. Nancy Reagan had her own stylist
and so did Lady Bird Johnson. In Lady Bird's case her makeup staff eventually did her hair, too, but several of her bios describe the two women who traveled with her.

take advantage of the fashions she had access too as First Lady. She always looked like a frump.
