Shock at Rick's Cafe: Obama is being attacked for everything?
Edited on Fri Mar-20-09 04:14 PM by ksoze
Can it really be that much of a surprise that whomever was elected last November was in for a long, bumpy, partisan road (including funds for new ones)?

To expect otherwise is foolish and only creates more angst and teeth gnashing from all sides. Obama was never going to be able to unite the world in short order and the honeymoon was never to be consummated with a group orgy. Any spark of unity during the post election transition was just a lull while all sides rested from years of anticipation and for many, let down.

Every step and every move will be pontificated and analyzed more than a Zapruder home movie. Get used to it and relish the fact that every outrage and pile-on some action ignites has no bearing on it's legitimacy or end effect. Obama will be measured by months and years, not days. To think that he would not err or be accused of being unfit to lead was wishful thinking.

Bush was handed over a well running muscle car by Clinton almost a decade ago and Obama was just handed the keys to an oil burning Vega with the radio and shift knob missing. Expect many sitting at a stoplight and looking over at the new driver to shake their head, not knowing how nice the car was 8 years ago. And how nice it will be with a little time and elbow grease.

1. Great analogy (the oil burning Vega) ...
Except is there even a car left at all? I thought Bush
drove it over the cliff!

You're correct about the continued scrutiny. Thank God
we have a president who defines COOL, and will be able
to weather anything his detractors dish out.

11. and to think it lost the sales competition to a Ford Pinto
kinda puts things in perspective regarding the quality of '70s American Autos

3. The worst part is I know that the Right is "no" behind doors
& "yes" in front of cameras. They fight like rabid dogs unseen, then go out & play a bizzarro mix of victim/bully. & it doesn't help that too many "Dems"-the ones who went along with Bush, are also against the people they falsely claim to represent. Some 'leaders', they only win popularity contests.

We need a different way to gauge whether a person is truly able to lead. Psychological profile, a proficiency test, something other than an ad campaign.

4. Superb post
Americans have the memory of a gnat and the attention span of an infant.

By the way, I can relate to the Vega analogy. I had a 1972 Ford Pinto...a flaming ball of death, if there ever was one.

6. That would have been a good point,
if Obama were putting the time and elbow grease into a model I had any interest in driving or seeing on the road.

Since I never expected him to move an agenda I was interested in supporting, there was no euphoria, and therefore, no let down.

7. No shock here..in fact as hard as it is to
believe that our country has a corporate media that only pumps up fascists and tears down anything to do with The People..I've totally wrapped my head around it after the last 8 1/2 years.

9. Where are ALL these new, well paying jobs going to come from, pray tell? Obama is not going to .....
repair the car when the parts to repair it have all been sent overseas.
