Illinois Special Olympics lobbyist on WGN radio told positive story re: Senator Obama

He spoke about lobbying then Senator Obama for funding and the good rapport Senator Obama had with the Special Olympic woman bowler who was lobbying with him. He felt that President Obama was remembering her when he made the comments. He acknowledged the need to be sensitive and that if he did not have that personal encounter with then Senator Obama he might have a different opinion of the joke.
Of course BOTH Chicago newspapers have on their covers big pics of President Obama and articles about the gaffe on page 1.
1. Everyone comes out with something dumb once in awhile.
I bet Obama remembers this remark for the rest of his life. I remember a joke I made 40 years ago that made reference to a camp for the retarded. It turned out the person I told it to had a child who went there. Mouth meet foot.
3. It wasn't a joke. It was a gaffe. Jokes have punchlines.

He should replaced the words Special Olympics with Republicans. As in "my bowling score is still pretty shitty, but it's still better than the Republicans plan for the economy."
