Barack Obama Has Made a Difference in Canada

By Rebecca Oliver, Grade 5

This year in 2008, for the people who have made a difference in Canada, I should pick to write about our prime minister, Stephen Harper, but I have chosen Barack Obama, the president of the United States.

He is not a citizen of Canada, but I feel he has made a difference in our Canadian society along with the world’s. On the day that Barack Obama was elected he changed the face of history...

Mr. Obama will make wonderful changes in the small towns and states in his country. As we are his neighbours I know he will make great changes here in our country. My parents believe he will help make much needed changes for the world.

Barack Obama‘s Impact on Canada

By Grace Matson, Grade 5

Barack Obama has made a tremendous impact not only in the United States, but in Canada also.

Many Canadians and Americans weren’t in favour of George Bush and Barack Obama signifies a new beginning for the U.S., someone to bring Canada and the U.S. in sync. The U.S. is Canada’s largest trading partner, so both economies are closely connected.

When the presidential election was on between John McCain and Barack Obama, Obama voters were said to outnumber McCain voters 3-1. Canadians have rarely taken the U.S.’s voting cues, but this year was different. It had quite an effect on Canada...

For them, one of the things Barack Obama represents is tolerance of different races. He shows equality to everyone. Canadians and Americans are showing equality to Barack Obama as well.

2. Can't we just borrow him then? For just a little while?
We need him to come up here and nail the Cons, our Opposition doesn't seem to want to do that. I promise we will give him back.....eventually!
