1. Don't be too hard on people for that
Unless you have a relative over there, I can entirely sympathize with people putting Iraq on the back burner: they are worried about paying bills, finding a job, keeping their current job, their diminishing retirement funds, etc. It's unfortunate, but unless you have a very direct stake in what happens over there, you will be more inclined to worry about pressing problems here at home.

Not nearly as frequent as the economy, for good reason.
