I'm pissed and need to vent.
Last December my dad took a spill and broke his hip and was in the hospital down in Vegas for quite awhile. Earlier this year he was released and brought back up to Utah, however, he's had difficulty walking on his own and needed a physical therapist to help get him back to where he was before. Since my dad is a Vietnam veteran and 100% disabled from the war, he receives care from the VA.

Well my parents are big Obama supporters and Democrats and have had his sign outside their house since mid-summer. This guy first started coming back in late January and knows my parents support Obama, yet makes it his duty to tell my parents how poorly of a job he thinks Obama is doing. This flusters my mother and my dad is not one to fight about politics, so they generally don't say anything. And when my mom does, he basically tells her it's not true...like when my mom refuted his argument that Obama has spent more in his first month than Bush spent in his entire eight years.

Anyway, I think it's highly unprofessional to come into a clients house, knowing their political views and attacking Pres. Obama. But my parents are pretty quiet now that they're getting older and I know my mom doesn't want to ruffle any feathers. I told her to call the VA and complain, but I don't know if she will.

It just pisses me off that this guy continues doing this, knowing where my parents stand politically.

2. Does he work for the VA? Call them and tell them you
are concerned that one of their caregivers is making them uncomfortable by preaching his political philosophy to them and request they send someone else.

4. Idiots are everywhere
I don't care if he's only a contractor & doesn't work for the VA. The aggravation alone must be impacting your Pop's recovery. Can you call & complain for them?

5. Report this asshole to every source you can think of... the VA, the professional
licensing association in your state, his supervisors, anyone. Cost the shit his job and let him deal with that.

If your Mom won't do it, you should.

This kind of bullshit has to stop.

8. He definitely needs to be reported to the VA. That is very unprofessional
behavoir on his part.

I would also immediatley demand that someone else be sent out to care for your father, someone who can keep their political views, regardless of what they are, to themsleves.

What an asshole!

10. REPORT him...to whomever he works for...
he is NOT allowed to do that...he needs another job...perhaps as a political advisor....perhaps your mother could suggest he do that instead of the job he's supposed to be doing...??wb

11. Thanks everyone. I'm gonna discuss this with my mom.
And if I can't convince her to complain, I will.

I don't get where the guy finds the nerve to come into their house and attack their political ideology. It boggles the mind. I know a ton of conservatives living here in Utah and I would never think to impose my political thoughts unless somehow the host asked for my opinion. But my mom hasn't done that. He just saw the Obama sign and went off.

:eyes:

Asshole.

18. Wish I could send my PT to your dad.
He's very good at what he does, and he loves my giant Obama "hope" poster. He passes it on the way out the door, gives it a grin and whispers "Our guy won!" That said, he has plenty of clients who do not share his political views and they all love him so he's obviously not pushing his views on them.

Your guy sounds like the bullies that occasionally have to be weeded out from jobs that put them in proximity to those who are vulnerable - such as elderly or disabled or children. Implicit in his behavior is the suggestion that failure to let him rant will result in some form of punishment (in this case, sub-standard care). He's gotta go.

Please keep us posted on this.

19. I think my mom would love to rip into him.
However, my dad is pretty reserved when it comes to politics and he shoots her a look like, "please don't..." so she remains quiet. Plus, my mom gets angry and when she gets angry, things happen and she knows politics sets her off.

I might just be there one day when he shows up.

20. So this PT is disparaging the Commander in Chief in the presence of a veteran?
THAT is good old fashioned treason.

Make some phone calls, get the guys head on a platter and I'll do a dance for ya.

22. That physical therapist needs an attitude adjustment.
He works for the VA right?

President Obama just increased the monies that goes to the VA.

Therefore, the physical therapist's salary, depends on President Obama's increase of funding for the VA to help out veterans. This funding helps pay for additional outpatient procedures, like.... physical therapy.

He can always quit working with the VA altogether if he doesn't like President Obama's policies.
