Question about Joe the Plumber "being prior military"
While Joe is making his nutty talk at CPAC about busting heads and shooting people he makes a reference to himself as "being prior military". I've never heard any reference to his serving in the military before. Did I miss it or is Joe just making more shit up as he goes along?

Anyone know anything about it?

2. He's probably counting being a war correspondent in Israel or something.
Did he ever actually report from Israel? I know they were talking about it. I never saw him doing it...thankfully.

4. I saw it, it was as awful as you'd imagine
But, I really do want to know about this "prior military" thing. If the pathological liar just took credit for something else he never did, trying to give himself more "cred" I'd like to see him hung out to dry for it.

It's bad enough that he's not a plumber and claims to be. I wonder how real vets would feel about his claim of "being prior military"?

Maybe he was a super-secret military drain specialist. Hush-hush.

6. In googling for the last 10 minutes, I found NO mention of Joe/Sam having any
military service. I checked Wiki first, as this ass-clown actually has a longish bio there, and if there was any time he served in the military, it would be there. Just to be sure, I googled "Joe the plumber military service" and nothing comes up. Joe/Sam strikes me as a military wanna-be, but, like most of that species, does "wanna-be" enough to actually serve.

7. I did the same thing and came up empty too
The only reference I remember him making before was (I think) an uncle he said served. I would think an attention hound like Joe would have already capitalized on any real military experience - it would have been a nice little addition to his all american fantasy existence.

So far no one who's posted remembers ever hearing about this "experience" before. Not looking good for Joe/NotJoe the Plumber/Not Plumber and Vet/Not Vet who was going to buy/not buy a plumbing business that made/didn't make over $250k a year.

11. As a Veteran, I find it reprehensible that this knuckle-dragging
piece of human trash would even contemplate calling himself a veteran.

From all I've seen, he's nothing more than a coward, a self-pimping lying sack of crap.

For God's sake, the miserable bastard wouldn't even pay his taxes...someone else had to do it.

If there is a flag draped over his coffin when he dies, it will be a yellow one...cowards deserve no better.

I have stood with the best the Army has to offer, "Joe" would lay prostrate before them, and they cold clean the soles of their boots on his miserable body.

22. Would military people even call themselves "prior military"?
Sounds like a strange term to use. Wouldn't someone identify themselves as a Marine or Navy, etc.?

25. We do. I refer to myself as "former Marine" when speaking on military matters.
The thing about "fake Soldiers/Marines" is that often they go too far with the BS. Fake service people are ridiculously easy to uncover.

26. Virtually all of the Vet's I know call themselve's "Veterans"...
Branch of Servive generally comes up a little later. Army, Marine, Navy, AF all come up after the establishment of veteran is made.

Many, especially Marines will say "Marine", but never "ex-Marine"...ask any Marine, there are no such things, Marines are Marines for life...period.

As an Army Vet, we called the USMC, "Uncle Sam's Misguided Children"...:D

31. I won't call myself a veteran
as I never served during a time of conflict.

To me, serving in a combat zone is being a veteran. But that may just be me.

33. If you served in uniform, regardless of peace or war....
Edited on Sun Mar-01-09 08:23 PM by rasputin1952
you served your nation, you are a veteran. There are Combat Veterans, there are veterans who served as cooks or drivers that are veterans; engineers, mechanics, medics...all who served honorably are veterans. There is no real other distinction, except for those that have service connected disabilities, particularly one's from combat. Merchant Marines have been considered vets for quite a few years.

If you wore a uniform of this nation, you have earned the title veteran...:patriot:

35. I can easily respect that, it is most certainly your choice...
I thank you for your service, the nation thanks you for your service.

There have been relatively few of of us that have manned the ramparts on cold lonely nights; that have withstood the pressures that come with the job.

In my family, we have had someone, (often several at a time) in every conflict since the War of 1812. (Still researching the Revolution, but that's a tad "iffy" as NYC was a bastion of those who supported the English...:scared: ). My daughter was on the Carl Vinson, and saluted the first plane off the ship going after bin-Laden.

My point is, you served, and this nation is grateful for your service. You have been there, when far many others have refused to, or found ways out of serving. (Interesting how so many of them are "patriots").

Stand tall "former Army", you've been there...those who haven't, like Limbaugh and "Joe the Plumber", aren't fit to shine your shoes.

:patriot:

This guy is so stupid he thinks no one can easily research his background of lies.

If he is truly claiming prior military service, even his staunchest supporters will turn on him with a vengeance.

27. Well, the Air Force doesn't have the....
overtly masculine, aggressive sexiness that comes with being a former Soldier/Marine. The insinuation being that he (alleged former Air Force) didn't suffer like Soldiers/Marines have done. So I can kind of see him not being all rah-rah about being prior service.

If Joe WAS prior AF, then he should know better than to talk about being "in the shit" with bullets blazing around you. Fake talk like that is what got Hillary into hot water.

20. He said he was a plumber in the Air Force and taught plumbing
"All right. Well, my name is Samuel J. Wurzelbacher. I go by middle name Joseph and shorten it to Joe and have gone by that since I was born and have always been called Joe. With regards to my occupation, I was a plumber in the military for the United States Air Force. I used to teach plumbing in the military. A lot of times the licenses that are obtained in the military world do not transfer over into the civilian world." http://www.tuftsdaily.com/1.902390-1.902390

I'd never heard shit about his military experience. And I have to say, even after reading the interview it still sounds like bullshit - but at least it's not bullshit he just made up two days ago.

He says he's "well read" too. *snicker*
