These last eight years must NEVER be forgotten
They must be passed down to future generations so they are never repeated. These last eight years were some of the darkest in the history of this country and there are lessons here.

1) Fear and fear mongering should always be treated skeptically. Nobody should ever be intimidated for asking "show me the evidence" or questioning whether it has merit and validity.

2) Prisoners are human beings and deserve to be treated humanely. The right to vote must be extended to them. Those are rights not priveledges just are the rights to a fair trial.

3) The wealthy and the prosporous don't get first dibs at the buffet table. A just society allows that for the poor and downtrodden. It's the least among us that should take priority over the well to do. A society should be judged on how they are treated.

4) Never trust a politician looking to buy votes with tax cuts. They should be judged on their stances on the issues.

5) Just because you can throw a football or play the guy everyone wants a beer with doesn't mean you are fit to lead a society.

6) Science deserves respect.

Any others?

2. Yeah
Don't live in a blue state during a Republican presidency, unless your job is recession-resistant.

4. Don't spy on your fellow citizens under the premise of protection for their safety.
Don't take your private bullshit petty sandbox family dealings with the Bin Laden's into the public square.

Don't play your traditional allies for fools, the US is not an island in the world.

Reaganomics died recently. They tried keeping the body alive but the brain ceased functioning and is on its way to burial. Do not resurrect.

Torture was wrong when others did it. Just because you do it, doesn't mean it's all of a sudden right.

If the bush administration does not get called on their war crimes, future generations will judge that generation as being derelict in their duties, in addition to vacating their responsibilities for the deficit they will be saddled with; while sustaining and carrying forward the belief for years to come that you can get away with crimes if you are one of the privileged.
