So, did anyone turn their backs on Warren during the invocation?
I was searching the audience (or the littlepart of the audience that I saw in one shot) and saw mostly bored people...

1. my friend, who was in DC, helped hold up a big rainbow flag while he was speaking...
...then went back to little American flags...

2. Doesn't matter, Rev. Lowery was such a contrast
Edited on Wed Jan-21-09 03:11 PM by keith the dem
that Warren looked childish and immature. After Lowery's benediction, does anybody even remember Warren...He got owned!!!

Kinda like the Harlem Globetrotters versus the Washington Generals

4. You know, I never thought about it like that, but you're right!
The day was just so much more and better and brighter. Warren looked hopelessly like yesterday's mashed potatoes. A big nothing. Lowery was a giant...

8. I unloaded my dryer
and foulded some laundry while he was doing his grimacing prayer. He was praying so hard he almost looked like he was in pain. A bit too much fake piousness IMHO.

9. I did but I was at home on my bed.
I was listening but then he got so boring that I had to mute and turn away 'cause he was very visually unappealing.

Jon Stewart had Rt Rev Gene Robinson on last night and he was great..dispelled some DU rumors, too.

18. I was interested in watching the audience reaction to Warren's invocation.
There was no mass protest from where I stood near the Washington monument. A lesbian couple next to me voiced displeasure and turned their backs when Warren started talking but flipped back around to watch the jumbotron when they heard the rather innocuous tone of the prayer. I did notice a few rainbow flags held high.

19. A man in front of me turned his back, but I didn't see many people.

It was nice because he still prayed along with Warren, bowing his head and closing his eyes, but his back was turned.

22. Except for the rather creepy, Andy Dick-like way he pronounced "Sasha"...
...I thought his invocation was fine. Of course, I think everyone would agree that he would later be way, way upstaged.
