1. In the scheme of things, not that big of a deal
Now, being a right wing thug, THAT I hate Roberts for.

9. That's what I was thinking -- 4 years from now, getting it right is going to be so satisfying!
Something to look forward to.

21. According to TPM, he DID practice
He was certain he knew the oath by heart, but he flubbed it anyway.

6. If it's good enough for Obama it's certainly good enough for me.

7. Honestly, I think that President Obama may have thrown Roberts off...
...when he appeared to interrupt him right at the beginning.

But it's all good. I thought it was a bit of a sweet moment.

8. I think so too
The look on Barack's face was priceless! It was sweet and he seemed a little nervous and then the big smile. The adoring look on Michelle's face as she watched him was touching.

11. I agree. Obama first jumped the gun. I think he threw Roberts off.
But, damn, you think Roberts could have gotten it right, anyway! Oh, well, I think they were both nervous. I doubt that Roberts has ever done anything on live tv in front of such a large world wide audience.

10. On ABC just now..Dianne Sawyer chose
her favorite moment, after Charlie and George gave theirs, as when the Oath of Office was given and Obama waited for Roberts to get the words in proper order. Kinda of a strange "favorite part" but there you have it.

They had a replay of it so there was no way you could miss what happened.

13. My question is:
How long until the RW nutjobs start claiming it's invalid because the words ween't correct as stated in the Constitution?

17. And how many republican presidents were 'invalid' under that argument
It would be hilarious if a whole bunch of republican presidents screwed up the oath of office and only a hand full of democrats did.

Edited on Tue Jan-20-09 11:28 PM by davidpdx
the flub was pretty damn embarrassing for him. Jeffery Toobin was just talking about it on CNN and said that Obama actually let out a chuckle because he knew Roberts had flubbed it. I'll have to watch the video again to see that.

15. Roberts screwed up first, Obama waited, knowing he screwed up. Then he said it the screwed up way.

18. Consider this:
If Roberts hadn't fumbled it, we wouldn't even remember it...

By doing what he did, he ensured its immortality!

19. I'm sure he's terribly embarassed by it all.
given that he's supposed to be the foremost expert on the entire planet on the document which contains those particular 35 words.

I'm sure he accepted your apology with his typical grace.

Oh, by the way, I hope you're going to enjoy Obama's replacements for Stevens and Ginsburg.
