On the eve of the Inauguration, the streets of DC are indeed an enlightened place
Edited on Tue Jan-20-09 03:20 AM by zulchzulu
My friend and I started the day off going to DC from the Orange Line and made our way to the National Mall. There was snow falling, but not adding up to any amount on the streets. We ran into some soldiers in their Army combat clothes inspecting various sections of the street. As we approached the National Mall, you could see many school children there as well as many others, the day before such a historic event had the town on a buzz...

The National Mall

CNN's Soledad O'Brien during a commercial break

A photo of MLK at the American Historical Museum on his birthday

Walking down Pennsylvania Avenue as preparations are getting ready

An evening photo of the Capitol building where many were gathering to begin the celebration

People reading headlines shown at the Newseum

The Washington Monument the night before Obama becomes President

The White House the night before Obama becomes President where many had gathered to try to imagine Obama as President. Lots of joy and laughter could be heard in the darkness as the reality that George Bush's reign was soon ending.

Note: more later...
