So if your local TV station doesn't have an African American on staff
who will they send to cover this historical event?

Here in Cleveland, the AA reporters are the only one's who seem to be covering Obama.

Do they have to be so freakin' obvious.

4. I guarantee you every reporter BEGGED for that assignment.
My ex-partner's in local TV news so i hear all the war stories. I know a lot of times reporters fight over who gets to cover a story like this. They all want it. BAD.

If any reporter is covering the inauguration it's because they begged, pleaded, and clawed their way to that assignment... not because by default they sent the black guy to cover the other black guy's inauguration.

And imagine... if you ran a newsroom and had a talented, young, african-american reporter begging to cover Obama's inauguration... telling you that it meant something to them personally and professionally... could you say no? I'm pretty sure I couldn't.

What's more....it's a sweet gig for them. Travel, hotel, per diem, the big story, witnessing history, live shots, biggest interviews of their careers... it's what they all dream of.

Be happy for them and celebrate. This is making some journalists' careers.

7. I'm happy for the reporters...
But it was meant as a commentary on how obvious and heavy handed the local news stations are when it comes to assigning reporters...

8. Again, it's not about the reporters...
It's about the heavy handed way local TV stations assign reporters.

9. If I were a reporter, I'd sure be supportive of any of my AA collegues who wanted
the assignment.
