He really is stuck between a rock and a hard place. If everything they did was legal, why would he have to issue pardons at all?

Who do you think he will pardon?

Who do you think wishes they would get a pre-emptive pardon?

3. Look at Bush's life
since when did he ever care what anyone thought?

4. All of a sudden, he seems to care about it a lot.
He's built this whole false persona his entire life of being a hail fellow well met - thats why he uses nicknames, etc. Lately, it has permeated his well-protected conscience that he is universally reviled. I think he is actually shocked and that it has rocked his self-image and his ego.

That's why I think he must really be struggling if there are advocates of pardons for the inner cabal.

12. You know... I was thinking the same thing about pardons
Edited on Mon Jan-19-09 02:50 PM by Gman
if Bush honestly, truly and deeply thinks he did nothing wrong or that he and everyone else did nothing wrong, he would be severely conflicted about issuing the pardons that everyone needs. If he truly thinks his legacy will be vindicated in 50 or 100 years and he truly wants that to happen, he may NOT issue the pardons and end up hanging them all out to dry.

What a fitting end that would be. Being considerably stupid, Bush was used to accomplish the neocons' goals. Maybe Bush ends up realizing what they did to him and his legacy and his family's presidential legacy and denies them all pardons.

He has less than 24 hours now to do it or not. Whichever it is, the decision is already made.

5. Not at all
He is too arrogant and self centered, if he does (and I think he will) he will either do so with no comment or he will claim he is doing so not because crimes have been committed but just in case anyone wants to accuse him unjustly. I halfway expected him to possibly resign after issuing a spate of pardons so that darth could pardon him.

6. The problem is irony and logic are lost on him.
Yes, a LOGICAL person would see that pardoning everyone associated with you may stain your legacy, but this is Chimpy we're talking about. He takes what he wants when he wants it and doesn't give a fuck what you or I or the entire world thinks of him... as long as his ass is covered.

He'll pardon everyone. And I do mean everyone... Scooter, Cheney, Condi, Rummy, Ted Stevens, all the Enron motherfuckers, and anyone else that has donated to the GOP and has been rightfully convicted of a crime.

He is a blight on our society. He knows his legacy is garbage. There is no saving it now. So why hold back?

9. Have we not learned this already?
The cabal is all about surviving until their next attempt to turn this country into a fascist oligarchy.

Of course there will be blanket pardons. And without prosecutions, they will be back.

8. I wouldn't be surprised if he skips out on a lot of pardons...
just because he really is that spiteful. :P

10. Interesting point if he felt the rats jumped off the ship and left him
out of self-interest. Or he might be monitoring their current comments and reflections about how none of it was their fault.

11. No, see, you're thinking too hard.
He's the decider, so if he issues a pardon, it means he decided that person is innocent. That way everybody will treat them like they're innocent, and besides the "crimes" never really happened anyway.
