He came across as a bully boy picking on a GIRL. I am amazed at how good she is at that, all the while deflecting all his nastiness neatly.

Poor bastard, he kept trying to segue into the Sharon Bush segment by citing her as a primary source, when Kelly kept correcting him and saying that someone else was the source, and Ms. Bush was only used to confirm that source. "Butbutbutbutbut that makes her your SOURCE!" he kept crowing, looking desperate and petulant all at once.

I know why she's back for more, she's really good at this. I don't think Lauer yet realizes that a second interview will be as bad an idea as the first.

The ONLY thing I would throw out for her consideration is that when people whine about there isn't enough positive info in the book (Lauer even went further than that) she should remind them that AS A JOURNALIST YOU WOULD KNOW that the job of a non-fiction writer is to uncover and tell the truth, not to write fiction. Spinning or inclusion of irrelevant material simply to offset the ugly truth is not her job.

One wonders whether Lauer would confront these authors with a summary list of the positive and negative ideas contained in either book and then ask the author, "I have a 22 page summary list of ideas from your book and none of them are positive."

Then when the author/interviewee attempts to share some of the positive reflections in the author's book, Lauer interrupts and cuts off the answer by throwing the list in their direction.

What nonsense. Even Ann Coulter received better treatment from Curic and Coulter was directly critical of the Today Show. Basically, the Curic interview gave Coulter an opportunity to summarize her ideas:

How did Mutt Lauer Already Have Negative Emails in his hand on the show today with Kitty, which he said they would discuss in tomorrows interview, when Kelley's book has been extremely tightly guarded and only released TODAY (9/14/04)!

It's a darn setup by Rove/White House/GOP Ops/Free Republic Network that we have to get in front of ASAP.

I/we want to know where Lauer got those negative emails, reviewing Kelley's book, he stated today (8:45am EST-9/14/04) on The Today Show interview with Kitty Kelley, BEFORE the book was published!

SECOND, I/we want to know how a TV news reporter (Mutt Lauer) gets WEEKEND access to Saudi Arabia Government Officials and Royal Family Members, per his on air comments in the Kelley interview today, for their rebuttal comments on allegations in her book, THAT HE READ THEIR PREPARED STATEMENTS ON- AIR TODAY.

I/WE HAVE NEVER HEARD A NEWS REPORTER REVIEWING A BOOK MAKE THIS KIND OF STATEMENT ON A NATIONAL TV PROGRAM, AND CLAIM TO HAVE THIS TYPE OF HIGH SECURITY LEVEL ACCESS TO SAUDI ARABIA ROYAL FAMILY MEMBERS WITHOUT CLEARANCE DIRECTLY AND SPECIFICALLY BY THE WHITE HOUSE! – NKR
