'Senator' Biden's trip raises concerns
Please be safe soon to be VP Biden.

Snip of article

Joe Biden has always had a flair for doing things differently – but his upcoming trip to South Asia may set a new standard.

The vice president-elect will be traveling to Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. But he won’t really be traveling as the vice president-elect – he’ll be traveling as the chairman of Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Only he’ll be resigning from the Senate in a few weeks. Even though he was sworn in Tuesday for his seventh term.

I'm glad he is going there. He knows a lot about Pakistan and the history there.

3. Sorry, but I don't see any problem with his travel. He IS the
Chair of the Sen. Foreign Relations Committee...at least for the next 13 days!

12. Technically I think that Kerry already is the new chair
Edited on Wed Jan-07-09 05:00 PM by karynnj
- Reid announced it and Biden said as much on this week. So, it is Chair emeritus (which sounds pretty distinguished) and chair.

The critical thing is that the purpose is a fact finding mission - something a Senator on those committees has the right to do. Now, if they start negotiations - then Politico is right - but that is not the stated objective. (Even then something done now is not like Kissinger actually pushing the Vietnamese not to agree to peace or Reagan's people hindering the hostage situation - both illegal and immoral (if they happened))

9. The media keeps trying to
make up stories where there isn't anything. Biden going on this trip is actually quite an interesting story without them reading between the lines. I guess they need a fresh scandal to keep them out of trouble.
