We've been Katherine-Harrised in Florida: Nader on ballot because of STORM

Florida OK's Nader's Name on Election Ballot

MIAMI (Reuters) - Independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader's name can appear on Florida ballots for the election, despite a court order to the contrary, Florida's elections chief told officials on Monday in a move that could help President Bush in the key swing state.

The Florida Democratic Party reacted with outrage, calling the move "blatant partisan maneuvering" by Gov. Jeb Bush, the president's younger brother, and vowed to fight it.

In a memo to Florida's 67 county supervisors of elections, Division of Elections director Dawn Roberts said the uncertainty of Hurricane Ivan, which could hit parts of the state by week's end, forced her to act.

Florida Circuit Court Judge Kevin Davey issued a temporary injunction last week preventing the state from putting Nader on the 2004 ballot, siding with a Democratic challenge that the Reform Party did not qualify as a national party under state law.

A hearing on a permanent injunction is scheduled for Wednesday. But Roberts said Hurricane Ivan, which is headed for Florida's Gulf coast, had raised "a substantial question as to when such a hearing" will be held....

elections are coming up

yeah right. when are those elections - january? the network of people who will say anything, even though it doesnt make sense, is just so wide

people who are going to vote nader this time i have no intention of voting kerry anyway. though since he is funded by republicans, maybe some of them will vote for nader instead of bush.
even they can see that nader makes more sense than bush

this will hold up in a court of law. Another nice try by the Bush Crime Family though. The will of the people means nothing to them, it's their private government to help themselves and thier cronies. The "voters" have (or shouldn't have) anything to do with the process in their opinion.

My money's on the absentee ballots already wending their way around the globe and that she's going to say the Ivan threat was justification for not waiting for Weds.'s court decision. Besides they filed an injunction that cancelled out the first judge's stay on Nader.

36. I wasn't clear -- I don't expect our useless media to help at all --
Our media should not only make this a huge story, but make the story about much more than Nader. It's a story about abuse of power, and disregard for law. This has to be explained to the people, the significance of such an act has to be explained to the public. Do I expect the media to do it? No, like you, I do not.

for what to expect in November. This MUST be stopped and NOW! Where are Kerry's attorneys? Are they in FL. fighting this? We should have heard about this from the Kerry campaign, not an internet article! Damn. They're on this, right? Why was there an injunction to prevent Nader from being on the ballot?

Ivan is going to miss FL. so, what's the wench's excuse now?

40. This story, I think, hit late -- I don't find it in the morning papers --
I assume attorneys for the Florida Dem Party are on it. They could probably use some additional legal muscle. Ideally, we would have a responsible press, and they would be on it, not in terms of Nader but in terms of rule of law.

It leaves one feeling very helpless. What can you do in the face of this kind of ruthless use of power, and disregard for the rule of law? Courts have no armies -- they rely on acceptance of rule of law. That, it appears, means nothing to the Bush cabal and their henchmen and henchwomen. (And they are determined to control the courts, and are well on their way toward that goal.)

What can you do in the face of this kind of ruthless use of power, and disregard for the rule of law?

We need BIG name attorneys who are willing to fight this crap and stop it in it's tracks as soon as it happens. We have to stop it before they get away with it. If they know we will fight them, tooth and nail, they will eventually stop trying.

Responsible media? Let's see if this is even a blip on the news. I somehow doubt it.

Has this been emailed to Michael Moore? I'll send it to him, just in case it hasn't been.

45. Orlando Sentinel report doesn't mention storm: Karl told Jeb to bag excuse
as too laughable for a brutal power play -- just play it straight?

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/elections/orl-asecnader14091404sep14,0,4641707.story?coll=orl-home-headlines

Secretary of State Glenda Hood stepped in Monday and ordered Florida's 67 election supervisors to add the Reform Party candidate's name -- just days after a Tallahassee judge sided with the state Democratic Party and stripped him from the ballot.

"We are acting as an honest broker," Hood said. "Supervisors are under the gun in sending out these ballots."

But the move by Hood, the former Orlando mayor named state elections chief by Gov. Jeb Bush, the president's brother, quickly exploded into a partisan fight over Nader's candidacy.

"This is amazing," said Scott Maddox, state Democratic Party chairman. "What Glenda Hood and Jeb Bush have done is turn the state's Division of Elections into the political and legal arm of the state Republican Party," which is seen as wanting Nader on the ballot to pull votes from Democratic Sen. John Kerry....

From today's electoral-vote.com report:

"The good news for Nader is that the Florida Divisions of Elections is putting him on the ballot despite a court order not to do so. In the old days, when Mayor Daley stole elections for the Democrats, at least he did it by getting dead people to vote in the dark of night. The Republicans are a lot more brazen. I suspect we haven't heard the last of this story."

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/elections/orl-asecnader14091404sep14,0,4641707.story?coll=orl-home-headlines

excerpt:

A Saturday deadline is looming for Florida elections officials to mail about 50,000 ballots to military personnel and other voters overseas. At the moment, Nader would be on that ballot.

But Hood's action also is likely to prove not to be the final word. In separate action, an appeals court Monday sent the matter of Nader's candidacy to the Florida Supreme Court for review.

The state Supreme Court, which was at the epicenter of Florida's 2000 presidential-recount fight, is well aware of the crushing deadlines set by state-elections law, spokesman Craig Waters said.

But justices have not yet set a hearing date.

"At this point, there's no way of knowing" whether a hearing will be set by Friday, Waters said, which state officials portrayed as the last day overseas ballots can be printed.

Imperial Amerika is a corrupt Third-Wrld nation trading on the past glories of when it was free.

The Imperial Province of Florida is one of the most corrupt provinces in the Empire.
