.... would Iraqis run up and HUG you because you helped elect Barack Obama, or thank you because you didn't vote for Bush the last two times? Not likely.

You'd be viewed not as a Democrat or as anti-Bush but as an American. And I dont think "liberator" is the first word they'd use to describe you.

I can appreciate the humor in this as much as anyone and I'm glad it wasn't a Democrat who was the intended target.

But I think the point we may be missing in this is Bush didn't JUST disgrace himself with his actions over the last 8 years, but he disgraced us as well. He has helped ruin what was already a bad reputation for us in the Middle East and today's incident is just the symbolic culmination of that.

Of course I dont REALLY think he was aiming for the flag. But you have to appreciate the symbolism.
