McCain Sticks Up for Obama on Blagojevich

Sunday, December 14th, 2008Article ToolsPrintEmailAddThisRSS

On ABC's "This Week," the former presidential candidate shoots down the RNC's efforts to tie Obama to the Illinois Governor, says he's confident any info on their relationship will come to light.

"I think that the Obama campaign should and will give all information necessary. You know, in all due respect to the Republican National Committee and anybody -- right now, I think we should try to be working constructively together..."

2. Well ok but why did he vote against the middle class last week?
Lip service will get you nowhere Senator Mccain. We can all flap our lips and stuff can just fall out but if you really and truly love America, you'd have voted for the middle class last week.

4. You think anyone's really gonna press him about that?
Layoffs, dissolving unions, it's not like that affects the Villagers where it hurts - their portfolio.

9. McCain's got his free ride from the press back.
At least he was just against the bail out, like Shelby; he wasn't with the McConnell-Corker group who wanted to use the moment to fuck up the unions in the process. I can disagree with his economic philosophy and still respect the man. He's wrong, but he isn't mean. McConnell is just a mean fucker and wanted to hurt organized labor by throwing millions out of work.

I get McCain. I can't get McConnell.

6. In the end
I believe McCain respected Obama for his achievement. His concession speech was exceptional. His vote will obviously not be one that Obama can count on but there will be times when McCain will be a surprising and welcome ally.

7. Trying to get back that self-destructed "maverick" label with a mild suck up routine, I see.

After all the smear & fear BS he and Miss Piggy aimed at Barack, forgive me if I do not get misty-eyed with gratitude.

11. Agreed; the more the RNC attacks the most popular President-Elect in history, the worse they look
But I will always detest McCain. He is just looking out to repair his reputation at this point.

13. Taking McCain's biggest democratic rival for the AZ senate seat ......
... and putting her in the White House didn't hurt either. :)

And who was the friend of McCain that Barack has given a high level position to?

18. It's Jim Jones....
Edited on Sun Dec-14-08 02:09 PM by Clio the Leo
... what in the WORLD did we ever do before Google?

It's Jim Jones as National Security Advisor who I'm thinking of.

Jones and McCain are close friends and have been for decades.

The two served together on Capitol Hill as military liaisions, McCain for the Navy and Jones the Marines.

Jones is an outside adviser to McCain on national security issues and the GOP nominee has made clear that he'd like to appoint his friend to a top post in his administration.

14. Looks like McCain is working on his legacy.
He does have a re-election coming up in 2010, doesn't he?

Guess that he wants to straddle for the next 2 years, since Arizona might have gone Blue,
if it wasn't for the fact that a certain Arizona Senator was on the red ticket.
