Has Fitzgerald vaulted himself onto the short list for AG or FBI Director? At
least a coveted slot at the DOJ. I don't trust him but he has played a good political hand. What do you think?

5. Wrong. They don't intend to block his nomination.

Unless something really awful turns up in the confirmation hearings, which is very unlikely, Holder will get the job. The GOPers just want to masturbate a bit longer over Clinton's pardon of Marc Rich.

9. He'll be confirmed. The Republican Senate whores picked the Rich issue
probably because it polled the best and they can pretend to show their base that they're on the job.

14. I doubt it. He's not in trouble with dems in the Senate
and Leahy is the chairman of the Senate Judiciary, not Arlen or Kyle.

Republicans can bluster and bloviate all they want--but they are as far out in the wilderness as we were four years ago.

EDIT: Aren't you the dude who posted the conspiracy theory bilge about Cheney? You're batting a thousand today.

all the strings.

only for a few days to ensure all the right people get pardons.

16. Not a chance of that happening. They have the votes to confirm him
He's not going to withdraw over Mark Rich. Not happening. He's already been grilled on it before.

12. Fitzgerald's mishandling of the Rove-Bush-Cheney treason was appalling.
It's a good thing we had prosecutors with skill and courage when faced with Watergate and Iran Contra, because Patrick Fitzgerald would have blown both cases.

11. Fitzgerald plays by the rules....
Edited on Thu Dec-11-08 07:45 PM by Claire Beth
if there is evidence of wrong doing then he will prosecute regardless of political affiliation. I don't see it as him playing a political hand, and when a President selects an attorney general they select someone they know very well since the AG has the power to bring charges..... John F. Kennedy picked his own brother.

I trust PE Obama. From what I see of our PE, he is not populating his administration based on "favors" or "good works".

19. Fitzgerald is a very good trial lawyer. AG and Assistant AG are administrators.
It's probably better to leave him exactly where he is, doing what he's good at.

32. If Obama named him to an important spot, it would look like "Pay to Play" now.....

It would look like blackmail on Fitz's part.

Which is why it won't happen.

One thing about all of your cockamamee OP's.... they're entertaining, but they are usually 180 degrees from reality.
