President Elect Obama "Last Question" and ABC Corporate Media "News" Cuts Away
Edited on Thu Dec-11-08 01:33 PM by Uncle Joe
That's last as in there won't be anymore questions after this one so it wasn't going to be like William Henry Harrison's inaugural in duration.

The journalist and I don't her name but I respect her professional journalistic ethics as unlike previous single minded questions by corporate media "journalists" in trying to tie Obama to a scandal in spite of how the Governor's actual indictment read, she actually asked a question about health care as in the critical issue of the American People's health after all this was an announcement of former Senate Majority Daschle becoming the new Secretary of Health and Human Services and overseeing health care reform along with Jean Lambrew.

I waited in great anticipation for Obama's answer to this last question but apparently this was too much professionalism for ABC to tolerate as they never gave Obama a chance to answer the last question regarding our dysfunctional health care system before they cut away.

Now even more pathetic than ABC's premature ejaculate coverage was the non-existent live aka; dead coverage by NBC and CBS which decided to ignore this critical announcement all together. No doubt they will pull snippets out in their later "news" casts, most likely only regarding the Governor's scandal.

I take two points from this episode.

1. The corporate media don't give a flying fecal speck about millions of Americans dying or going through financial ruin due to not having any health care coverage or being under insured. After all the corporate media's clients are the insurance corporations, the American People are only customers to be sold a product or down the river.

2. If anyone is under the false belief President Elect Obama will receive any so called "honeymoon" from the "corporate media" they need to snap out of it.

needs reform and we're not going to get it unless we all let them know we know what they're doing.

I'm guessing if the media keeps this up..Obama will take his case directly to the people through the internet.

They haven't changed nor will they until they're made to.

3. ABC reform?
Just look for them to be the most slanted, biased network to report on Obama's presidency.

After all, they are the creators/peddlers of the "Homeland Security" reality show that will be airing soon.

:puke:

4. There could be a scenario where we
have media reform in this country including abc. We got Obama didn't we? That was a miracle.

9. I know what you mean, only 18,000 deaths annually
Edited on Thu Dec-11-08 02:04 PM by Uncle Joe
http://journals.democraticunderground.com/Time%20for%20change/64

"The health care crisis in our country has been seriously exacerbated by the Bush administration in conjunction with our Republican Congress in the last several years. There were 46 million uninsured Americans in 2004 (the latest year for which data is available), up 6 million from 2000. Almost twice that many Americans were uninsured at some time between 2003 and 2004. This lack of health insurance is often fatal, as it is estimated that it results in an excess of 18,000 deaths per year, just in the 25-64 year age group alone. In addition, under the Bush administration we experienced the first increase in infant mortality rate in 40 years, rising 3% between 2001 and 2002 (As far as I can tell, the Bush administration stopped reporting infant mortality rate in 2002). Furthermore, lack of health insurance results in approximately two million bankruptcies in the United States annually."

By my calculations that's the equivalent of approximately 4 Iraq Wars a year.

10. The reporter who asked the last question
was Debbie Charles of Reuters. It's pretty sad that she felt it necessary to state that she might be disappointing her colleagues by changing the subject from Blago to health care. They were certainly itching for that gotcha question today.

13. He's having as nice a honeymoon with the press as I've seen in a long time, actually.
And, no, the corporate media don't care about healthcare needs of people earning less than $500K a year.

Edited on Thu Dec-11-08 02:37 PM by Uncle Joe
Even ninth months into his term immediately after 9/11 it wasn't how could this have happened on his watch? It was "aren't we glad Al Gore wasn't President when this occurred?"

17. Cllinton's honeymoon
consisted of them musing over whther he was already a failed president. They had an in progress recession
and the spillover of disdgust with the "presidency" as an institution instead of ever holding Papa Bush to account or St. Ronnie, God forbid! So began the low key hope of Bill tainted somehow under a GOP cloud.
